Businesses warned about #Tax scam

We have all opened up our emails and discovered that we had won "million" of Rands in a lottery we have never never played, right?

Well, there is a new mechanism being engaged by con artists as they dearly try to chew what they didn't bite.

This has prompted the South African Revenue Service (SARS) to warn small business owners about con artists demanding undeclared taxes.

In a statement released by SARS, the con artists request that the small businesses sort out their “outstanding payments”.

SARS said the taxpayers and traders with outstanding accounts should resolve the matter directly with SARS.

“All outstanding tax, VAT or duties must only be deposited directly into SARS bank accounts,” says SARS.

It added that there had been a number of incidents in recent months, where fraudsters had “demanded money to wipe off debts”.

“No money should be paid over to debt collectors or self-proclaimed SARS officials. In fact, collectors who want money to be handed over to them must be immediately be reported,” reads the statement.

Be careful with your investments folks. The wolves are always ready to pounce.
