Bonang Matheba's #BeingBonang returns this #July on #DStv. #FridayFeeling

Bonang Matheba's reality show, Being Bonang, returns to DStv next month.

The show, now in its third season, will see cameras follow Matheba as she navigates through her life.

Clips from the upcoming season were released by the show's director, Teddy Geldart, on his Instagram account.

In one of the two clips he uploaded, Matheba is seen speaking to her cousin and co-star, Pinky Girl, about hotwings.

"Pinky, when you've eaten hotwings, where should you place the bones after you've eaten the meat?"

"You throw them in the dustbin and not in the packet with hotwings because what are you doing? You're contaminating the other hotwings," she replies.

Geldart also uploaded a clip from the same scene in which Matheba seemed unhappy with her hair but joked about it.

"This hair is giving me Dolly Parton and I need it to give me more like Kim Kardashian. I look like I am going to do the sokkie dance at Benjemijn Female Residence."

Viewers will also see her accept an award in Prague and the launch of her sparkling wine.

Being Bonang will be screened from July 5 on 1Magic (DStv channel 103).

The Premier Soccer League has been established as the most prominent African league represented at this year's Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).

A total of 45 players are participating in the spectacle in Egypt.

Just three of these are from the National First Division, while the rest hail from 15 of the 16 Absa Premiership teams — Black Leopards being the only club without representation.

Bafana Bafana boast the most South African-based players, totalling 17 of their 23-man squad currently in Egypt, while Zimbabwe are a close second with 14 PSL players.

Cosafa neighbours Namibia also have seven of their Brave Warriors plying their trade amongst the Premiership and First Division, while Uganda, Nigeria, Madagascar, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Burundi round out the list.

As far as club representation goes, Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have seven players contesting the continental showpiece, while Mamelodi Sundowns share six of their squad members with the competing nations. League runners-up Orlando Pirates have only four.

Local club Maritzburg United will have two players taking part in the showpiece despite not having any of their stars making the Bafana Bafana squad.

Long hours huh! New #research shows that working long hours can lead to a stroke

Working long hours even once a week raises the risk of suffering a stroke by a third, a study has found.

Researchers found that putting in a 10-hour shift at work more than 50 times a year – roughly once a week – was linked to a 29% greater risk of suffering a stroke later in life.

And those who followed this working pattern for at least a decade saw their stroke risk rise by 45%.

The research, which involved 144 000 French workers, also found employees who put in long hours early in their career were at the greatest risk.

The study, from the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, said under 50s who had worked long hours for more than a decade were 128% more likely to suffer a stroke.

Dr Richard Francis, head of research at the Stroke Association, said eating healthily, exercising, sleeping well, and stopping smoking can make "a big difference to your health".

#Oprah misses her #TalkShow... And so do we

Oprah Winfrey admits that there are times she misses her beloved talk show.

It's been more than eight years since the final episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show aired, and she confessed to ET Canada's Cheryl Hickey that she has thought about a reboot.

"I would love to make that happen, let me tell you. But maybe not every day," Winfrey confided. "For 25 years, it was perfect."

The 65-year-old Queen of Talk added, "The only time I missed it was during the election or when something really big happens in the news. I think, 'Oh, gee, I wish I had a show.'"

Winfrey was in Toronto, Canada, promoting her new book, "The Path Made Clear: Discovering Your Life's Direction and Purpose", and recalled one of her first "aha" moments.

"My path became clear the moment, I remember it actually, when I flew into Chicago,"she shared. "I thought,'If the show isn't successful, then I'm going to go into advertising.'"

Now, Winfrey is hoping to help fans find their path. All of the proceeds from her book will go to the Boys and Girls Club of Attala County, Mississippi, where she grew up. — Toronto

Phendula answered.. as #Zahara pens historic deal. #MotivationMonday

East London afro-soul sensation Zahara has been named as the first ever musician in SA to sign a concert residency at Johannesburg's Emperors Palace.

The luxury casino and hotel will be the new musical home for the singer from April 2020.

Emperors Palace announced the concert residency on social media platforms this week.

Speaking to the Dispatch on Friday, Zahara said they were currently working on a schedule with the establishment.

The Loliwe hitmaker said the challenges she had faced in her music career had only made her stronger.

"The hardships that I have experienced in my career could have broken me but instead they made me stronger," Zahara said.

"I am absolutely thrilled by this milestone in my career.

"It is by the grace of God that this is happening for me.

"I am an advocate for standing strong in your craft and protecting it at all costs."

Zahara said her diverse audience members had played an important role in her career.

"I have received invitations to perform at different types of events and festivals for the young and the old.

"This residency is a window of opportunity for people to have access to my music and performances.

"It will allow me to explore many performance elements – I could include choirs and orchestras for instance," she said.

The multi-platinum selling singer broke out into the SA music industry with her hit album Loliwe in 2011.

The album reached platinum selling status in just 13 days and double platinum after 17 days.

In 2012, the singer won eight awards including Best Female Artist at the South

African Music Awards (Sama).

Her second studio album, Phendula , won three Samas including Best Selling Album.

The late SA statesman, Nelson Mandela, invited the singer to his home in 2014 to perform for him.

The songstress then composed Nelson Mandela, in his honour, and later released it as an EP.

Zahara said the concert residency was the start of something new.

"This is just the beginning," she said. Emperors Palace took to social media to confirm the singer's residency.

"We are delighted to announce a start of a great partnership with the amazing afro-pop musician Zahara.

"We are proud to have the amazingly talented singer as a resident performer."

Accepting abuse from people who don't appreciate you isn't a test of your character. If you're in a situation that isn't bringing out the best in you, let it go.

While the old ways of thinking suggested that endurance was a virtue, it really isn't!

The wisdom of experience, however, will teach you that acceptance is virtue. Be courageous enough to accept when a friendship, relationship or commitment, of whatever nature, is no longer fulfilling you or its purpose. It happens.

Ours is to learn to write new chapters with the spirit of what we have learnt, not to hold on to the old if it's toxic.

South Africans open up their wallets, again! #Beerhouse #waitress gets a whopping R18 000 tip

A waitress at the popular Beerhouse in Cape Town saw her life change in an instant when she received an R18 680 tip from a patron, allowing her to return to school and complete her matric.

The waitress, identified only as "Ayanda" on the Beerhouse website, immediately called the manager on duty to talk the patron out of it – but the patron just said that Ayanda deserved every last bit of that money.

The patron's bill came to R1 320, which she generously rounded up to R20 000, leaving Ayanda with a whopping tip of R18 680. It seems at first glance she may have accidentally added an extra zero at the end, but this was no mistake.

In a Whatsapp conversation with Beerhouse owner Randolf Jorberg, the donor – who wants to remain anonymous – said she meant every cent of the tip.

"I have no want to reverse this, no second thoughts about it and I was of sound mind when deciding to leave this tip," she said.

Ayanda and the "Top Tipper" connected over Whatsapp, and an incredible, heart-warming conversation followed.

"Promise me you'll use that money for good!" the patron wrote. "I left it for you because I believe in you, I want you to succeed! Go study, be a badass woman, and when you make it, promise me you'll remember this and help the next person."

Ayanda responded with gratitude and enthusiasm.

"Thank you so much my darling, I will use the money wisely I promise," she said. "I will go to school as you said to fulfil my dreams. You came to me as a messenger from God, that will help me to study and make my dreams become true."

According to the Beerhouse website, Ayanda had to leave school early and start working in order to make money for her family. Her parents divorced when she was just 8 months old, leaving her family in a tough financial position, and she wasn't able to complete matric.

Now, thanks to the tip of a lifetime, she has the chance to return to her studies.

"Ayanda plans to attend a school (near her home) where she can attend night classes so that she may complete her matric," the Beerhouse website says.

"She has also expressed an interested in becoming a paramedic. In the meantime, she has already started the process of getting her driver's licence."

#Sebenza Women Awards to honour #KZN women who excel in the #arts, #sports, #construction and #media. And you get to vote #GirlTalkZA

Daily Thetha host Kini Shandu has launched Sebenza Women Awards to celebrate women's success in KZN.

The honours recognise excellence in business, construction, the arts, sport, media and entrepreneurship. They are scheduled to take place on August 9.

Gqom queen Babes Wodumo is nominated in the Women in Arts category, up against personalities like Samkelisiwe Mkhize, Xoli Vilakazi, Stacey Norman and Ndu Shezi.

Babes's manager Nondumiso Simelane said her sister was honoured to be nominated in the awards that celebrate women's achievement.

"It is encouraging to have someone who has decided to recognise women's talent. Babes is excited about the nomination. What is so unique about the awards is that they feature women of different ages."

Shandu, whose show is on SABC1, said he was happy with how the awards have been received by the public and various stakeholders since the launch.

"The reception has been great. From the submissions we received from the public for nominations to the support that our partners have given us, it all gives us confidence that we will have a successful awards show."

Winners in all the categories will be voted for by the public. –

Have you heard the one about the man who was refused a “pink” drink at a #bar & sued the brewery for sex discrimination? #FridayFeeling

Have you heard the one about the man who was refused a "pink" drink for women at the bar so sued a brewery for sex discrimination?

Dr Thomas Bower ordered a Pink IPA at a Brewdog pub in Cardiff, which was priced at 20% less than the brewer's Punk IPA to highlight the gender pay gap.

Instead he was offered the more expensive drink for £5 – as the £4 IPA was aimed at women. He was only given the cheaper ale after telling staff he "identified as a woman". He complained about his experience in March 2018 to the craft ale brewery, before taking the firm to a small claims court.

The software engineer from Cardiff won his sex discrimination case, landing £1,000 in damages. Bower said: "(I) felt forced to lie about my sex in order to receive the product at the lower price."

Judge Marshall Phillips said: "Dr Bower would have felt 'humiliated' and was directly discriminated against."

Bower donated the money to charity.

Use your #varsity degree to #hustle and self employ. #YouthMonth

South Africa is known for being a home of gold where people from neighbouring countries come and create their own jobs but it has a very high unemployment rate with wellqualified graduates.

The reason is that South African youth are too comfortable with their degrees and mostly take pride in being employable and forget about creating their own jobs with the knowledge and qualities they've worked so hard for.

Graduates: do not lament poverty but seek help and start a small business with the least you have.

Get out of that comfort zone and make your name worth being written on that degree.

Remember you can't climb a ladder of success with your hands in your pockets. Instead of waiting at home for a job to whisper in your ears, hustle.

#Tonight: Kung-fu mum in law #series comes to @Starsatsa

Imagine living in a Kung-Fu universe where time and distance are context sensitive and no one notices when physics take a break. That would be great, except that the Kung Fu genre tends to take place in the past. I don't want to live in the past: I'm way too happy with electricity, medical science and Wi-Fi.

This series takes the fantasy of Kung-Fu and brings it into the modern world. Mei Chao Ying is a Kung-Fu master and the head of a martial arts clan. Family dynamics go a little awry when Ren Xiao, a young skateboarder and dancer enters the fray.

It's difficult to pin down exactly what KFMIL is trying to be because it isn't afraid to go pure drama when the occasion calls for it. The editors also aren't afraid to stick to one style, and often experiment with different techniques to get emotions and ideas across. Even in the first episode, there are scenes where cartoon thought bubbles are used for comedic effect and sombre scenes are backed with emotional music.

Overall it's a fun romp and anyone who enjoys Chinese comedy drama Kung-Fu series will enjoy this one.

A rugby style yellow card timeout, rolling subs... #CarlingBlackLabelCup adds fun to football

The 2019 Carling Black Label Cup will introduce more innovations empowering fans to interact more in the game through technology.

The Black Label Cup – the preseason match between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates for which the fans select the lineups by SMS‚ social media and internet voting – will this year enable fans to have more control over what happens during the 90 minutes of the game.

Fans are also being given the opportunity to vote for six game-changer options.

These are:

● A fourth substitution for the goalkeeper‚ allowing coaches to have an additional replacement for the keeper;

● The fans can select the captain;

● A substitution can be selected by voting on Twitter or by SMS;

● Rolling substitutions‚ allowing three to five replacements to enter or leave the field of play;

● A rugby-style yellow card timeout‚ meaning a booked player has to leave the field for two to five minutes;

● The man of the match selected on Twitter or by SMS;

● A microphone carried by the referee.

Voting closes on June 30 and the game will be played at the FNB Stadium on July 27.

"The Black Label Cup is the only platform that gives fans a voice‚" Carling Black Label media manager Sphe Vundla said.

"We thought to revolutionise the game of football."

Stop exposing kids to #porn on your #smartphone.

I'm incredibly disturbed by parents and other older people who keep pornography on their smartphones and still allow the kids to play with these phones.

What makes you think the kids will only play games or listen to music and not watch the porn you have on your device? Stop exposing kids to porn. You are damaging their minds and it is illegal to let children watch these things.

If you know your phone has material meant for your eyes only, don't let kids use it.

Rather store stuff that your kids can find useful.

Support small businesses and help curb the astronomically high #unemployment figures

Many poor people are doing it for themselves. In the townships, they run small businesses to support their families and to overcome poverty.

The informal sector helps a lot of people to survive.

As South Africans we can help our fellow citizens out of poverty by supporting small businesses in our townships.

This will also contribute to decreasing the unemployment rate in the country and it could mean a drop in crime.

Don't stop looking for opportunities! #YouthDay #GirlTalkZA

To all the recent graduates, know the world of employment is a jungle – you can either eat or be eaten.

Unemployment is real and can dash your hopes and dreams if you aren't strong.

But you must never give up. Remember, all the employed people you see today were also once unemployed.

Be patient in your search for a job and offer yourself for volunteer work, just for experience.

Sooner or later you'll smile and you may even forget it was once an uphill climb.

There is need to reskill unemployed youths. #YouthMonth #YouthDay

This year's Youth Month coincides with the commemoration of 25 years of freedom and democracy.

Both commemorations should interrogate the future of the youth of this country.

The month should also bring about new approaches to lead the fight against the staggering 27.1% unemployment rate and even worse, youth unemployment rate of 55.2%, which stands out globally.

It is sad to see graduates who cannot find jobs after years of studying.

Most believed that education was the only freedom, but today they are stuck with certificates and no experience.

Venturing into new sets of skills and reskilling youth must be considered. It is about time we bring to the attention of government departments and the private sector the limitations of the current skills so that the new crop of youth can be reskilled towards new opportunities.

OR Tambo has always reminded us that "the children of any nation are its future. A country, a movement, a person that does not value its youth and children does not deserve its future".

After watching #Argentina suffocating #Japan, surely #BanyanaBanyana can up the gear #FifaWWC #GirlTalkZA

The Japanese female national team, Nadeshikos, is one of the big guns in international football. In fact, they were world champions in 2011.

I watched the Nadeshikos struggle to assert themselves against Argentina who, just like our Banyana Banyana, don't have a professional league back home.

Most players in the Argentinian side are part-time footballers with fulltime jobs while others are studying. What Argentina did to Japan was to suffocate them and showed them no respect. The match ended 0-0. If Banyana wanted an inspiration, Argentina provided one.

I still believe Banyana gave Spain too much respect and allowed them space to do as they pleased. Our players have skills most teams in France don't have.

For instance,Thembi Kgatlana gave La Roja's defence a torrid time on her way to scoring Banyana's only goal. Instead of Banyana pressing Spain, they sat back and invited Spain to come at them.

As a result they ended up losing by 3-1. Germany and China are other nations in our group.

If we go into match with Germany with same negative approach of sitting back and absorb pressure, I foresee our girls conceding 10 or more goals. German ladies know how to score.

Qualifying for the World Cup is a huge milestone which should be grabbed with both hands.

It's also a platform for our players to showcase their talent on world stage. As a proud South African, I'll still be there rooting for them.

#KZN motorist finds new innovative way to keep car safe and it will blow you away!

A KZN motorist found a novel way of ensuring their car would not easily be stolen — by chaining it to a light pole.

The sight on a busy Glenwood street made estate agent Trudy Beetge make a u-turn to photograph the extraordinary safety measure that was used by the owner of the blue Ford Fiesta.

Beetge had collected her daughter from school when she spotted the car parked along the road.

"My first thought was: 'No way,'" she said.

Yes way... The car was locked with a chain and padlock. Now that's redefining motor vehicle safety.

After that #Shell employee's famous #crowdfunding success, which causes open up wallets? #BackaBuddy

What prompts people to open their wallets wide for some crowdfunding campaigns, whereas other equally worthwhile crusades are ignored?

A good story and good marketing, says crowdfunding site BackaBuddy's marketing and PR officer, Zane Groenewald.

As online donations on the site for hero petrol attendant Nkosikho Mbele surged above R500,000 this weekend, Groenewald said successful campaigns had a strong campaign message that inspired or touched donors on an emotional level, and had a strong social media presence.

"The kind gesture of standing up for someone during their time of need continues to inspire others to be more generous," he said. The least popular campaigns are debt fundraising and campaigns to assist in settling legal battles.

Groenewald said some of the most memorable campaigns included raising more than R80,000 for an autistic boy in KwaZuluNatal to go to a special needs school.

More than R780,000 was raised for triathlete Mhlengi Gwala, who was attacked while cycling by robbers who tried to saw off his legs.

Patrick Schofield, CEO and founder of crowdfunding platform Thundafund, said the most successful campaigns had a strong social media following.

The platform's best-performing campaigns included rebuilding natural habitat for lions with the #LandForLions campaign, which raised more than R1.9m.

But not all worthy campaigns have been as successful.

Nicola Bornman, 14, was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in February after several misdiagnoses left her severely malnourished. Only R9,000 of the target of R150,000 was raised. Her mother, Priscilla, said she could not afford medical aid.

"I don't like to advertise because it feels like I'm always asking others for money. Our friends and family have been amazing and have raised so much money for us already," she said.

Daryl Kotze, shot three times while on his way home last week, has been more successful. His friend Josh Reid asked for R50,000 on BackaBuddy — and within a week almost R86,000 had been raised.

"The reason some campaigns do better than others is because of the media behind it," Kotze said. "South Africans are not uncaring but they can't help a cause if they don't know about it."

Social media expert Mike Sherman agrees. "A feel-good piece of news cuts through the clutter and showcases the positive side of the human spirit," he said.

Get rid of that "abantu bazothini" syndrome and live your life #MondayMotivation #GirlTalkZA

In life, we tend to want to be like others but sometimes you just have to be yourself.

Don't let peer pressure take a toll on you. Don't compromise yourself. Don't do something because somebody likes it.

Remember to live for yourself and not for others.

Accept yourself the way you are and remember that everybody is unique, so you don't have to feel as if there's something wrong with you if you are not like others.

#CastleLite is unlocking two nights and you're #invited!

Castle Lite Unlocks is defying expectations by bringing two nights of fun-filled entertainment and a lifestyle extravaganza to the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg, from June 17 to 18.

The festival, packed with every aspect of hip hop culture as we know it, from energy charged musical performances to progressive street-culture displays, gaming, international fashion collaborations and power-packed panel discussions, kicks off with a special line-up featuring the legendary US radio host, Sway Calloway, who will host the poetry-packed gig, Sway Cold Cyphers.

Rapper Meek Mill (US), South African rappers Shane Eagle, Rouge, AKA, Cassper Nyovest and more will deliver performances. Female rapper Deko Barbara-Jessica Wedi, known as Rouge, said hip hop culture had certainly evolved over the years.

Shane Eagle said his ultimate dream for the hip hop scene was a unified, global music industry; this was echoed by Boss

Zonke hitmaker Riky Rick. Day two of the event will feature a line-up led by US rapper Post Malone. The rapper, who went from being relatively unknown to clinching four Grammy nominations with his album, Beerbongs & Bentleys, will perform alongside his American homie, rapper Tyla Yaweh. Also on the bill on the night are South African favourite Riky Rick, Rouge and Nasty C.

Give the #youth a chance! Not encouragement and pep talk #GirlTalkZA

Being a young person in South Africa might be the hardest thing ever.

Yes, we have freedom and opportunities but, often, getting ahead depends on who you know.

There are many graduates who are unemployed because of the "experience" that employers require from job seekers.

In reality you have to work hard at your studies to get a qualification and hustle even harder to make ends meet.

Young people are always being encouraged to start their own businesses but this requires capital and very few business people and financial institutions are willing to back a new and unknown business.

If only we could give one another a chance, then we might be able to curb unemployment and help grow our country, together.

The #heroes that give from their hearts without expecting returns deserve their rewards #GirlTalkZA #BackABuddy #Shell

The story of pensioner S'phiwe Msimango, the hospital porter who volunteered for 22 years at the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, is touching.

I couldn't believe a person could volunteer for so many years without a salary and still managed to keep their spirits high.

I shared the story with friends and all of them said they could volunteer only for three years. Msimango has been helping to feed and move patients around the hospital without complaints and demands.

He deserved his reward of a bakkie gift.

Another hero, petrol attendant Nkosikho Mbele, also acted with ubuntu paying for a client's petrol as he was worried about her stalling on a highway.

We need to emulate Mbele and Msimango, by extending a helping hand without expecting anything in return.

The video is raw and shot on a regular day in her village. The music video is edited from a few continuous frames of youngsters passing a mobile phone to each other while  filming themselves and Sho Madjozi in and around the village.

From The Grill, diners can expect a perfectly marinated and flame grilled deboned peri-peri chicken, lamb chops that have been marinated in extra virgin olive oil, garlic and fresh herbs, both pork and beef ribs and ostrich served with a balsamic and red wine reduction.

Combos – including a chicken and prawn combo and the ultimate surf and turf – as well as bespoke burgers and a "Lekker for Locals" offering that includes a fall off the bone lamb shank and a chicken and prawn curry – will leave every carnivore delighted. Those looking for something lighter can enjoy an array of salads as well as a "From the Sea" offering that includes calamari, grilled kingklip, Argentinean queen prawns and grilled crayfish.

The wide range of starters that precedes this extends from escargot and oysters to fresh black mussels, beef carpaccio and more.

Right now, the Steak Grill and Co is one of a kind – although it is affiliated to the Jack Salmon Group of restaurants.

But it is its location in Atherton House, which was built in 1904, that seals the fine dining deal.
