What's going down in #Joburg tonight? Here is your #NewYearsEve ultimate gig guide #Woza2019

As the festive season draws to a close, it's time to celebrate the year that was in style.

If you have not yet made plans for the biggest party day of 2018, here are a few places in and around Joburg that may be potentially great venues at which to count down to 2019.

For CBD residents and those looking for a good time with the children, the City of Joburg will host the 2018 New Year's Eve Countdown Concert in Newtown. Starting at 5pm, performers and DJs will entertain revellers through the evening towards the midnight countdown. Then it will be time to let loose, shout, stomp, pop the bubbly and hug the person closest to you - friend, family or stranger. The music and fun will continue until the early hours of the morning.

The city expects the venue - Mary Fitzgerald Square - to start filling up quite early.

No alcohol, fireworks, cooler boxes, hubbly bubblies or weapons will be permitted at the venue.

If you will be in Pretoria this New Year's Eve you might want to see yourself at the Time Square NYE Blockbuster Block Party.

The 2017 event was one for the books, and this one promises to be even more so.

The 12-hour party line-up will include heavyweights in the dance music scene such as Black Coffee, Euphonik, DJ Fresh, Black Motion, Lulo Café, DJ Reddy D, DJ Kent, Vin Deysel, Ayanda MVP (MC), Dino Bravo, Jullian Gomes, Chrizz Beats and Shimza.

It will be an "audiovisual spectacular of epic proportions", organisers say.

Joburgers can also look forward to the second annual Afropunk Festival.

Last year saw a tapestry of designs and traditional prints from those in attendance.

This year, the line-up will include the likes of Kaytranada, Thandiswa Mazwai, YoungstaCPT, The Internet, Phuzekhemisi, Azagaia, Kwesta and Thundercat, among many others.

Trompies were also recently announced as part of the stage acts set to light up the December 30 and 31 event.

For the more mellow crowd there is the First Annual All Love NYE Fest. Three entertainment industry heavy- weights will join forces to spread love across two dance floors at one of Joburg's iconic venues, Carfax, to welcome the new year in style.

More information can be found at Computicket.

Quirky crowds can look forward to the Ultra Violet Circus on New Year's Eve. Madison Avenue in Rivonia will have a special celebration with two dance floors and eight top local DJs in addition to a circus in full UV glow.

The Nineties vs Noughties New Year's Eve party at The Barnyard Theatre will be a music roller coaster of hit songs featuring a talented 10-piece cast who revive pop and rock icons from both decades.

The Soweto Theatre, in partnership with Jozi FM, will host the Soweto in Colours Countdown to 2019, with two stages, 20 DJs, a fireworks display and a Jozi FM live broadcast.

Kempton Park's Dries Niemandt Park will host the third annual Ekurhuleni New Year Extravaganza.

Also in Ekurhuleni, the Tsakane NYE Street Fiesta promises to be the biggest street shutdown in the township, boasting a line-up of 32 DJs at Ishudu Pub and Grill.

For a good sing-along party, Super Sokkie 2018 at Sun Park will be ideal. Now in its fourth year, the hit dance party will have all the popular artists, including Kurt Darren, Pieter Koen, Ricus Nel, Leah, Ray Dylan and Jan Bloukaas.

There will be plenty more events taking place on the day but the most important rule of all is to keep safe and not to drink and drive.

2018 is almost over. Let's relive some of the stories that got #Mzansi laughing. #Woza2019 #HappyNewYear

2018 Mzansi's got talent in comedy of errors.

If ever there was a worldwide competition for the best memes, Mzansi would come out tops.

No matter how depressing this country can get, we always turn any situation into something worth laughing about.

Pitso Mosimane, the Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, was officially the king of memes this year.

His gestures, body language and facial expressions made for hilarious comedy.

He was closely followed by the image of Cyril Ramaphosa walking with the people of Cape Town after being sworn in as SA's new president.

But Ramaphosa was less popular when listeriosis broke out, as people renamed him Cyrilisteriosis Ramapolony.

The infamous Julius Malema and his antics also made for good comedy material. After his speech at Winnie Madikizela-Mandela's funeral – the #Mamagiveusasignal challenge took off.

But even spicier was the big oops by Mark Fish who uploaded a pic of Sipho Hotstix Mabuse with a caption that read, "We love you forever … thank you" as news of Hugh Masekela's death came in.

It set off a nationwide #MarkFishChallenge as Mzansi's peeps posted pictures of celebrities with wrong names.

Peter Ndoro's mash ups went viral after killing off two politicians during live broadcasts.

First he killed of Mangosuthu Buthelezi in a slip-up, instead of the former Bophuthatswana leader Lucas Mangope. He followed that up by pronouncing Ramaphosa as dead, when he was in fact being sworn in.

Weed was finally legalised and before anyone could get high on the news, Nando's was already up there with its clever "Azishe, nothing satisfies the munchies" poster all over social media.

Meanwhile, Lillian and Desmond Dube's fame failed to die this year with more creative content about the two's funeral policy ads. Mzansi is sick of these two claiming Lucky Dube was the only Dube who wasn't as intrusive.

To get some peace, Adam Catzavelos travelled to Greece and pointed out that there were no "k***'s" in sight in his racist video which quickly trended.

A certain blogger, Nadia Jeftha from Cape Town, sent the country into a frenzy when her birthday party poster, charging people exorbitant fees, went viral. She is since super famous for charging R1,500 for a standing table of four, to R15,000 for a sitting table of 12 people.

People questioned why they had to pay so much for an unknown person when they could not even afford petrol.

Memes followed with men presenting cans of fuel instead of flowers to their lovers.

We can all learn from Dimpie Dimpopo – the boy who proved that you don't have to drive anywhere to gain fame. He just sits in a stationary car hyping folks for the weekend... "oh, Nkosi Yam!".

Sars chief of digital and IT, Mmamathe Makhekhe-Mokhuane, taught us a new catch phrase – 'Can you give me protection from yourself," when she couldn't give coherent answers on a Morning Live interview.

But even more shocking was Malusi Gigaba's infamous "Imagine if this was in your mouth" video. The viral video saw him packing his desk at the home affairs offices.

To top off a good year, King Monada's hit Malwhede (Idibila) which will see the nation fainting this festive season just wraps up our hilarious year.

Last minute #Christmas gift ideas. #MerryChristmas

Oh dear. You've left Christmas gift shopping to the last minute. There's no way you're going to brave the shops on Christmas eve. And ordering online is not an option. Now what?

You're in luck… we're here to help. Those Christmas gift procrastinators will know that the ultimate get out card for last minute shopping is the good old gift voucher.

And while gift vouchers are great, it's kind of obvious that you've not put too much thought into this purchase. So, let's put some thought into it.

Buying an experience voucher is the best simplest way to make those last-minute Christmas gifts a bit more appealing.

And we've taken all the sweat out of the searching and put together a list with some suggestions. You can find even more ideas in the links below, but hopefully, these serve as inspirational starting point.

How to avoid debt this #FestiveSeason. #MerryChristmas

The festive season is notorious for splurging cash while enjoying your money with loved ones. But bad spending habits can result in debt and can cause stress and inconvenience.

Miway Insurance has put together some handy tips to help you keep your festive finances in check:

DECREASE YOUR DEBT

Developing good habits is a skill all on its own. Beating the budgeting blues requires a conscious effort to cut back, clear and measurable outcomes, and an understanding of exactly what you are saving for.

PAY OFF DEBT

Gradually work your way out of debt by prioritising paying off as much debt as you can each month, instead of the minimum amount payable. If you're lucky enough to get an annual bonus or a 13th cheque, use the cash wisely by paying off your loans, making an investment or putting some aside for a rainy day.

CURB HOLIDAY SPENDING

While it's likely that you will spend more than you might in other months, it's vital that you take stock of exactly what you have available to you, and revise your budget to accommodate extra expenses, rather than simply writing December off as "one of those things".

You can dial down the debt by employing alternative gifting strategies, like Secret Santa systems, which require each person to buy just one present, rather than a wide array of costly gifts.

To avoid temptation, consider taking your shopping online, where the shiniest new gadgets and tempting toys aren't on full display to deter you from your carefully crafted list.

SAY NO TO CREDIT

In the run-up to Christmas, there are plenty of enticing credit and "no deposit" deals that can tempt you into splashing out on expensive gifts you can't really afford. But in the long run, credit leaves you with a higher price to pay and costs you more in interest repayments over the longer term.

Rather say no to credit and stick to items you can afford. Carry cash as much as possible as counting every cent makes you think twice about spending impulsively. Draw out your weekly budget from the ATM to make unnecessary and excessive spending a little less easy.

PLAN AHEAD

Planning your festive season well in advance will not only save you money, but it will also ensure that you start 2018 on a strong financial foot.

#BlackPanther star Danai Gurira in Zimbabwe to promote anti #poaching campaign

Black Panther star Danai Gurira has travelled to Zimbabwe to join a campaign aimed at protecting rhinos from poachers.

The WildAid conservation group says Gurira, who mostly grew up in Zimbabwe, is participating in a publicity campaign called "Poaching Steals From Us All" that will run across Africa.

Gurira appears in an anti-poaching video that opens with a scene from the Black Panther movie in which her character, Okoye, steps in front of a charging rhino that abruptly stops and licks her cheek.

"We're losing our heritage and an important attraction for our tourism industry," Gurira says, urging people to report wildlife crime.

In a second post promoting the new campaign Gurira shared a photo of herself and an "orphaned bull elephant" that was given "a second chance thanks to local wildlife conservation efforts".

Alongside the photo, Gurira added that she was happy to be home.

China and Vietnam have also been targeted in campaigns to reduce demand for rhino horn. Some consumers believe the horn can cure illnesses.

Seven tips for getting what you want in life #NewYearResolutions

Decide

Figure out what you really want. Make a decision on what matters most to you. List the reasons why it is important that you must have it. Make a commitment to do what it takes to get it. Once you make your decision you gain clarity.

Plan

Come up with a plan for accomplishing your goal. It is important that you lay out the steps that you need to take. Your plan keeps you on track. Your plan gives you a means of charting your progress. You will know how close you are to hitting your goal by examining how far along you are with completion of your plan.

Work

Do the work that you have laid out in your plan. Doing the work keeps your attitude positive. You are encouraged when you take consistent steps by applying a solid work ethic. The positive results which come from your work fuels your motivation. The more good results you experience the more motivated you will be to take additional action.

Change

Be willing to change in order to get what you want. You will have to change in some kind of way. If you could have what you want by staying the same then you would have had what you wanted a long ago. Be willing to change your habits, your mindset, your location or anything else so that you can obtain what you desire.

Focus

Keep your attention on where you want to go. Focus on what you want and not on what you don't want. As you focus on what you want you will recognize opportunities. You will be able to turn certain situations to your advantage because you are able to see ways in which those situations will enable you to get another step closer to what you want.

Associate

Spend time with people who can and will help you. Do not hang around people who put you down or ridicule you because of your dream. You need to surround your self with positive supportive people. You want to be in the company of people who encourage and inspire you.

Persist

Keep on keeping on. Never give up. Keep doing what it takes to have what you want. Your persistence will be rewarded. Most people stop one step away from the finish line. Commit to finishing what you have started so that you get the reward that you have worked so hard for.

Nomzamo Mbatha makes 2018 her own #GirlTalkZA

It is hard to deny that 2018 was Isibaya actress Nomzamo Mbatha's year. Mbatha, 28, reached another milestone when she co-directed her first microfilm, Ncese.

She was honoured again, when a rose was named after her at the opening of the 47th Spring Rose Festival.

She hosted (Veuve Clicquot) Masters Polo event and the Nansen Refugee Award ceremony this year.

Well, it seems this was her year to keep on winning.

These songs are getting #Mzansi dancing this #KeDezembaBoss

The time is now to dance away all the 2018 blues as we prepare to usher in 2019 this summer. This is also the busiest time of the year, with artists juggling jam-packed festive season schedules.

King Monada, who took over the festive season with his hit Malwedhe, said this month is going to be quite hectic thanks to fans posting their fainting videos and making the song popular from Cape to Cairo.

"Unlike the December of Ska Bora Moreki, this time the fans made it happen and we are humbled," said his manager Albert Makwela. After the hyped-up messages on Twitter when DJ Tira told Monada they will "Idibala" together at Fact Durban Rocks, Makwela said Monada will in fact be ushering in the new year with SABC1 fans in Sasolburg.

Motswako rapper Cassper Nyovest says December often feels like an exam time for artists. "It has come to the point where everyone dedicates enough time to see us perform, they are taking leave and we are working overtime. I think I perform almost every day this month," he says.

The Gets Getsa hitmaker wants to entertain his fans from all corners of Mzansi.

Kiernan "AKA" Forbes, whose Fela In Versace is burning up the airwaves, said the festive season is just another month as he performs constantly throughout the year.

These other popular hits will heat up the dance floors:

■ We will all remember our lost ones with Vusi Nova and Jessica Mbangeni's heartwrenching As'phelelanga.

■ Kwesta's new track Vur Vai is a great party starter.

■ Hot on its heels is another dance track by Prince Kaybee ft. Busiswa called Banomoya.

■ Competing for the title of this summer's anthems is also DJ Sumbody ft. Tira's Ayepyep and Monate Mpolaye featuring Cassper Nyovest and Thebe.

■ When downing the free spirit waters, rather jive than drive to Black Coffee's and David Guetta's new single Drive, or stick to DJ Maphorisa and Moonchild's Walk ye Phara. If that doesn't rock your boat, grab your lover and step to ManuWorldstar's Nalingi and Kelly Khumalo's Dance Comigo. And Sho Madjozi's much-awaited debut album Limpopo Champions League will fill up the stockings.

@Boity Thulo the rapper graces #CokeStudio. #OwnYourThrone

Its been only three months since Boity debuted her first single Wuz Dat, and the star has already received a nomination for the tune.

Boity surprised us all when she revealed herself as a rapper recently. The TV star had fans singing her praises on Twitter, many of them loving her song.

Besides performing the track on TV shows, Boity also joined Nasty C on his Ivyson Tour, giving fans a taste of what she is like on stage. And now the star has been nominated for an SA Hip Hop Award in the Best Collaboration category.

She's achieved more in her 27 years than most people will in their entire lives. I mean, how many people can say that they were able to buy themselves a mansion worth R4 million and a fancy Mercedes Benz … all before the age of 30? Not many!

She is beautiful, smart and intelligent too. We have watched her grow and mature in the industry. She started as an actress and now she is conquering the world as she presents TV shows and host some of the biggest social events in Mzansi and in Africa.

Africa is also embracing her new found talents and Coke Studio Africa also saw it and they are supporting her. She was at the CokeStudioAfrica studios and she did a little something that we still waiting to hear. Check some of the pictures she posted whilst at the studios

Ready to groove this festive season? Here are #Mzansi's biggest radio hits of 2018

Ignore the artists complaining about payola for a moment – yes, it's an area of the industry we need to tackle at the right time – 2018 was a great year for Mzansi music and radio.

Despite the fact that things are very digital these days, it's still crucial to remember that in South African music, radio still has a key role. If your song is on the airwaves and the charts, you're on your way to having a hit single.

This was further evidenced by a list of 2018's most played songs on South African radio and we are incredibly proud to see the number of local artists in the top 10.

Go and give the women a shout out please #LadyZamar 😭pic.twitter.com/AOTrvc7kso

— SHEKHINAH (@shekhinahd)December 13, 2018

As you can see from the list above, Lady Zamar and her hit single Collide emerged as the most played song of 2018, but the top 10 is filled with local artists including Prince Kaybe, Shekhinah and Kwesta, while further reading down the list shows even more local entries.

As Shekhinah pointed out, it was also a great showing for the women of the entertainment industry who certainly had a stellar year. The ex-Idols star had two songs appearing in the top 10.

Ohhh yes you ladies are doing the mostpic.twitter.com/ilqm3PXgoK

— Mrs Moncho (@phindilen02)December 13, 2018

It's been a great year for local music and 2019 only promises even greater representation of our artists. Now, the question is: do you think this has anything to do with the 90% local rule that the SABC tried to implement two years ago, or did South African music rise to this position organically?

  • Place both types on a preheated barbecue or griddle pan and cook until charred and heated through.
Serve chicken drizzled with blue cheese sauce or on the side.

Katrina Bianca Sutcliffe has thought of a brilliant idea to feed the needy this Christmas. Pockets are tight and things are not getting any easier for any of us but Sutcliffe's grand plan to work with Pick n Pay to feed those in need this Christmas is nothing short of ingenious.

How to use the R5 Pick n Pay stickers

We came across Sutcliffe's story on Good Things Guy. She is currently working with Pick n Pay to feed the needy using the expired R5 stickers.

In October, the giant retailer launched thePick n Pay Christmas Bonus Stamp campaign where customers got a R5 sticker for every purchase amounting to R150.rs

Customers would need to collect the stickers into a booklet, which would sum the bonus up to R100 should it be filled.

Because the campaign ended on 18 November, many customers could not fill in the booklet. Some collected the stamps but never participated in the campaign with a booklet.

What was left were thousands of stamps scattered everywhere with no value. However, Sutcliffe might have a use for them and it is an initiative we are excited about.s

How to donate your R5 Pick n Pay stickers

Since the launch of her charity campgain, Sutcliffe has already impacted the lives of many.

The recent Alexander fires is a prime example. Using the booklets she had received, Sutcliffe was able to donate hampers and food buckets to the survivors of the tragic fires.

On her Facebook page, she noted that this effort could only work as much as we are willing to help those less fortunate than we are.w

"There are hundreds of people who are currently displaced and GOTG are doing all they can to assist the community of Alex. They literally need anything and everything they can get…

"Thank you to everybody who has contributed stickers, sheets and money to help change the lives of those less fortunate than us,"

she wrote.

Those who have stickers that they would like to donate can do so by contacting Katrina Bianca Sutcliffe on Facebook. If you are in Bedfordview, Ekurhuleni, you can drop off your booklets at Dear Maria (opposite Andiccio), or at the Corporate Conference Centre in Edward Drive

Pearl Thusi took to social media to announce that she will be starring in Africa's very first Netflix original series. It is titled, Queen Sono.

She is emotional in the video where she thanks Netflix and the team that she has worked with.

"I cannot wait for every young woman,  every woman on this continent, actually on this planet to meet Queen Sono, we've worked so hard on this."

In the series, Pearl will be playing a spy at a South African Agency.

The show sees comedian and filmmaker Kagiso Lediga as the director, and executive producer Tasmin Andersson.

Earlier this month Netflix had announced that it was looking for African content.

"There's going to come a time when half of the top 10 of most-watched shows in a given year are going to come from outside of the US," Erik Barmack, Netflix's vice-president of international originals, Variety reports.

"I don't think that's very actually far away. I think that's going to come in years, not decades," Barmack added.

Queen Sono is expected to air in 2019.

Nomalanga Shozi is the new face of #BET. #BETAfrica #GirlTalkZA #etvRhythmCity

TV Personality, actress and radio host Nomalanga Shozi has joined BET Africa as the new face of the channel, where she will feature in content both on air and on the ground, locally and internationally.

The 23-year-old, who is no stranger to TV screens, said that although she has known for months, the news is only now just settling in after having a crazy few weeks leading up to the announcement.

"A few months ago Monde Twala (vice-president of Youth, Music and BET at Viacom International Media Networks Africa) met me and told me that he wanted me to be the face of BET Africa.

"Monde told me that he had a bigger vision for me and my career and I did not even know that he had these plans for me," she said.

Although Shozi liked what she heard, she did not immediately jump for joy. "I am a 'believe it when I see it person' so it was only when my manager was contacted that I took what Monde had said to me seriously," Shozi added.

The young star said she called her mother, who she considered her biggest fan, first to share the good news. "She (mother) has allowed me to go after my dreams and she has trusted me so much and I really appreciate her."

Speaking on her new adventure, Shozi said that it signified growth in her career which started when joined Ugu Youth Radio and then Gagasi FM in 2015.

"I started out in radio before getting into TV and to now be the face of such a huge international is an honour. I don't know how this happened but I am thankful," she said.

With Shozi becoming the new BET Africa face, the channel also plans on shaking things up a little.

"BET is a huge American brand but we understand that American viewers and African viewers want different things so BET Africa will be a lot more localised when it comes to its offerings. One the new things will be BET Breaks, which I will be presenting. We are going to put a local twist on it."

She also recently jetted off to Las Vegas to cover the Soul Train Awards where she interviewed Faith Evans and mingled with big stars.

"That experience was amazing and interviewing Faith Evans was a dream come true.

"I am young in age but when it comes to my music I am an old soul so I enjoyed every minute of the awards and I am looking forward to covering even more."

Shozi, who also stars in e.tv's "Rhythm City" said that although her new job will take most of her time, she still plans to continue acting and hopes to get more roles in the future.

The best place to put #art is the bathroom

Where does one of the world's leading collectors of French and Italian bronze sculptures display his most prized pieces? The bathroom, of course.

Architect Peter Marino discussed his unusual method for displaying his collection during a conversation with Dominique Lévy of Lévy Gorvy Gallery and Bloomberg arts columnist James Tarmy at Bloomberg's The Year Ahead: Luxury summit on Thursday.

Hosted at Bloomberg's headquarters in Manhattan, the conference was a first for the lifestyle group Bloomberg Pursuits. Speakers included hotelier Ian Schrager, Hermès U.S. President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Chavez, Equinox CEO Harvey Spevak, as well as executives from Cartier, Shinola, and Goop.

Marino argued that his art was not for long- or short-term investment, but for the enhancement of his everyday life. (In an audience poll, 68 percent agreed they'd buy art in the next year to beautify their personal space while only 8 percent would purchase to store value for the long-term future.) That's why, Marino said, he places selections from his collection in an intimate setting.

"I have a large bronze collection, and I move it all the time," he said. "I'll put a [sculpture] next to my sink, where I can get a really good look at it. You wake up in the morning, it's the first thing you see, and it's the last thing you see before you go to bed."

More predictable locations around his house, he said, don't interest him. "You learn about it infinitely more than if you put it in the mantle in the living room," he said. "Who looks at the mantle?"

Lévy has her own philosophy for displaying art. "You don't need to have a big, white wall with a picture in the middle," she said. "You have so many different ways to install art, and I don't think this is something we ever talk about." How collectors exhibit their work, she said, is "a place where you can be quite creative, and quite courageous."

It's not just about aesthetics. Sometimes, where your art lives can affect whether you want to keep it or get rid of it.

"What I always say to a client when he wants to sell a piece of art is: 'Why don't we change [how it hangs on] the wall first, and then we'll see?" Lévy said.

Marino announced earlier this summer that he would be opening his own art center in Southampton, on New York's Long Island. During the discussion at Bloomberg, the 69-year-old architect said that his "fantasy is that when I retire in 20 years, I'll be able to run it."

Lévy expressed reservations about the growing trend of individuals who expressly purchase art for their private museums.

"I have mixed feelings about foundations," she said. "They're either done for a romantic and idealistic idea, namely to enhance daily life and cultural life, or you have foundations that are—bluntly—ego trips." (She added that she has no doubt that Marino's foundation was born out of altruistic motives.)

Both Lévy and Marino scoffed at the idea that an artwork should ever be purchased because it's considered an "important" one.

"Buy it because it's meaningful, relevant, beautiful," said Lévy.

Ready for Summer? #AutographGin officially launches in #Durban

Autograph gin has officially launched in Durban after experiencing success in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

The handcrafted African dry gin which is made in a distillery in the heart of Stellenbosch is a product that has been exclusively created by Matt Beech. Beech is the youngest gin maker in the country and is completely involved in the process of making the gin.

This gin is a mix of interesting botanicals and fynbos native to Africa, including citrus Buchu leaves, naartjies; Cape rough skin lemons; wild rosemary; confetti bush and African wormwood have been combined to create this beautifully balanced gin.

Beech said, "We wrote a London Dry recipe based on an African garden. And that garden is right outside the distillery's doors. Almost all the botanicals are grown onsite at Autograph Gin's home at Bosman's Crossing, Stellenbosch. The result is a superb spirit that can best served simply over ice, or paired with interesting ingredients that enhance its profile".

The exquisite African dry gin holds a prestigious award for excellence. Autograph won the Top Scoring Craft Gin of 2018 award (Distillique Craft Gin Trophy) at the Michelangelo International Wine & Spirits Awards.

Autograph Gin also won a Loerie Advertising Award in August 2018 for their innovative packaging and design.

"When I initially became interested in producing a gin brand, my research led me to the fascinating history behind the product that dated back to the medieval monks who first experimented with early versions of gin as well as pivotal moments in the evolution of gin-inspired the Autograph brand," explained co-owner Anthony Norton.

Norton and Marcel von Aulock are the co-owners of Autograph gin.

According to Norton, they are working on a variety of new recipes that people can look forward to in the new year. One of the new recipes that people can look forward to is their pink gin which people got to taste at the launch. Beech said that this new gin gets its distinct pink colour from the hibiscus that is used to make the gin.

"We want to stay true to our ethos, producing gin recipes based on only natural botanicals and underlying base spirits. We don't use any synthetic products or food colourants in our gin, nor do we use freeze-dried botanicals and source all of our botanicals (apart from imported Juniper berries and Angelica Root) from our own garden nurseries," added Norton.

Autograph gin is currently available at select retailers. And priced at R550.
