Why wait when you can do it now? #GirlTalkZA

The biggest lie we tell ourselves in the area of action is, I'll do it later. We should avoid procrastinating and just do things when they need to be done. Postponing tasks won't help anybody and just wastes time.

We don't know what tomorrow holds for us. What if something happens and we don't have time the next day?

Putting things off is unwise. If you can do something now, do it. If something doesn't get done, schedule a specific date and time to do it.

If we're not careful we'll never get to all those things we put off until later.

The burden of things left undone is a heavy load to carry, so just do it.

#Launch: delicious home of Portuguese #chicken & #prawns - #Senhor Peri Peri launches store at #Melrose Arch

The home of delicious Portuguese chicken and prawns, Senhor Peri Peri have officially launched their fourth store in the bustling precinct of Melrose Arch and their first Halaal store.

Senhor Peri Peri offers Joburgers a modern twist on Portuguese cuisine. Their unique take on well-loved favourites is sure to have diners coming back for more.

From the sought-after Peri Peri Chicken to succulent Mozambican-style prawns and hearty burgers there's something for everyone to enjoy.

Founder and inspiration Jorge Calisto was born in a small northern town in Portugal but spent most of his life in the South of Joburg.

His love for experimentation led him to create a table Peri Peri sauce made with the famous Bird's Eye Chilli. Next, came a full range of traditional sugar-free sauces made in a variety of flavours: Lemon & Herb, Medium, Mild, Hot and for the very brave, X-Hot.

Jorge's love for food and travel led to his exploration of the colourful and vibrant country of Mozambique, where he fell in love with the culture, fresh cuisine and striking colours.

The new Senhor Peri Peri eatery pays tribute to Mozambique, with pops of colour throughout the eatery. Neutral features such as the cork and circular wooden, light-fittings complement the brightly detailed wall mural, which encapsulates the authenticity, warmth and personality of the eatery.

The Senhor Peri Peri eatery, which always stays true to its roots and welcomes all diners as a part of its family, is the brainchild of Jorge Calisto and the Fournews Group, industry leaders with over 24 years' experience.

"We are extremely excited about the launch of our first Halaal Senhor Peri Peri," says brand manager, Varina Singh. "We think our concept of the modern Portuguese eatery will bring a unique and flavoursome experience to Melrose Arch- it's the perfect place of high spirits and love for all things Peri Peri," Singh adds.

Why the #braai is such a big part of #Mzansi's heritage. #HeritageDay #BraaiDay

One of the many mysteries about South African history is that no one is certain when the first "braai" was held or who was there.

Braaing become a common method of cooking meat around the beginning of the 1800s, with certain customs and traditions developing over time and becoming common practice for braai masters everywhere.

A braai is more than the meat or vegetables on the fire and who's braai broodtjie is best ... it's the gathering of friends, family and loved ones to share time together and catch up on recent events.

The braai also carries traditions through generations while giving each new family member the opportunity to master and add their own skill and artistry.

There will never be two braais that are alike, and every braai master has their personal preference of how their braai is run.

Simple or sophisticated, summer or winter, the braai is a staple of South African weekends, allowing each new braai master to take up the coals and add their flavour to the tradition of the braai cult that we all love and know.

#NdlovuYouthChoir spreads message of hope in South Africa's turbulent times #MotivationMonday

SA's pride and joy, the Ndlovu Youth Choir, may not have won America's Got Talent, but they sure made us and the continent proud.

Here's why: They gave us hope.

Horrendous incidents of femicide, child abuse and xenophobia saw the country turned upside down recently, but each week, news of the choir advancing to the next stage of the competition gave us something to look forward to.

From the songs they performed to their bright, proudly African costumes, the choir showed the world who we are – unapologetically African.

Not once did they succumb to pressure and forget their roots, which is why the world fell in love with them and their uniqueness.

In light of the recent scourge of xenophobic attacks in SA, the choir made it clear they are Africans before South Africans, representing the entire continent.

On the night of the finale, they said: "Tonight we were proud young ambassadors of a united Africa. Africa has the world's youngest population and our hope is that our performance reflected the talent, opportunity and potential of millions of young people. One nation, one continent."

Judges Gabrielle Union and Simon Cowell marvelled at the Ndlovu Youth Choir's powerful and moving performance during the finale. Cowell, who is hard to please, said: "I pray that this show changes people's lives and this performance may have just done that."

The one we've been waiting for is finally here #RWC2019

The 2019 Rugby World Cup is here. It's the first time rugby's biggest tournament is being held in Asia and the 48 matches will be played in 12 venues across three islands in Japan.

Crowds at Japan's recent Pacific Nations Cup matches demonstrate how excitement is building in the country

and there are hundreds of thousands of supporters flying in from overseas too. I, for one, cannot wait.

With half-a-dozen teams in with a realistic chance of lifting the Webb Ellis Cup in Yokohama on 2 November, this tournament is set to be a cracker. And I'm expecting some upsets too.

I predict the All Blacks to lift the Webb Ellis Cup for a record third time in a row. Of course you can't keep your eyes off the Springboks, Wales, Ireland and England.

I hope you enjoy the World Cup!

Magic ways to 'rescue' a meal #FridayFeeling

Have you ever cooked a dish and accidentally added too much of something, making your food inedible?

We asked four chefs from some of Johannesburg's top hotels for quick fixes that'll help you rescue your meal.

How do you fix a dish that is too spicy?

Add coconut milk/fresh cream and lime to cut through the chilli, said Sandton Convention Centre head chef Gouwah Kafoor.

How do you fix a dish that is too bitter?

I would add something sweet (like a pinch of sugar or honey) or something sour like a little bit of lemon juice or vinegar to try to neutralise the flavour, and make sure that it won't affect the consistency of the dish. The 'fix' will depend on the dish," said Level 4 at 54 on Bath sous chef Precious Malebye .

How do you fix a dish that is too salty?

Depending on what it is, either cream or milk normally does it for me, said demi chef de partie Ntabiseng Phiri at Medeo Restaurant at The Palazzo Hotel at Montecasino.

How do you fix a dish that is too sour?

Depending on what the mixture is, use a bit of cream and a drop of vanilla essence to cut down the sour taste.

Also, some good quality thick cream cheese can help to tone it down, said Sandton Sun's San Deck Bar & Restaurant pastry chef Beverley Bogatsu.

We need urgent antidote to the poison of #FakeNews

Fake news is a dire threat to honest discourse. It is extraordinarily dangerous in today's turbulent political atmosphere.

With growing evidence of interference in democratic processes around the world, the debate over how to expose and eliminate fake news is certain to intensify.

Fake news poisons the atmosphere that we all operate in. Because fake news is a grim reality the masses are doubtful about all news.

The cardinal feature of fake news is that it dismantles the credibility of institutions, including the media, and honest journalism. It disgorges it's venom with potent accuracy.

We stand paralysed against false and fake news, which comes in the guise of scoops.

We must devise a strategy to counter the pace, force and criminal energy of these faceless attackers.

Being unique is your rare gift. #MondayMotivation

Why should people decide for others what is fun and cool? Why can't we accept that people are unique, and their chilling ways can be of their own choice.

A person can choose to just chill at home with a good book. This can be better than spending time with fake friends.

Young girls will do anything and everything to be classified as "cool" even if that means disrespecting their parents, losing their virginity, taking toxic substances or starving themselves to have bodies of celebrity models.

Let's teach ourselves and the ones coming after us that it's okay to be yourself.

Be the champion of your life by never giving up. #WednesdayMorning

A wise man once said:"If everyone sweeps the front of his gate, the whole street will be clean."
Let it be known that the socioeconomic challenges we currently face should not push us to getting wasted in the form of abusing alcohol and taking drugs. It simply means we should sit down and chart a way forward on how best we can defeat these challenges.

As opposed to the youth of 1976, our struggle is not poor education, but social challenges such as unemployment, child abuse, HIV, drug and alcohol abuse.

The million dollar question therefore is: what are we doing as the youth of today in dealing with these societal challenges that seem to be flushing our lives down the drain?

As a youth, I know some of us have resorted to crime, laziness and hopelessness as a way of wiping away the tears of our own failure.

I know some of us have given up on uplifting our lives because we have tertiary qualifications yet can't get jobs.

I know some of us have resorted to alcohol and drug abuse just to temporarily shy away from the real problems that are confronting us.

But there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Let us not give up, for we owe it to ourselves to better our lives. Let us be creative and come up with ideas that will help shape our lives.

If we do nothing, we run the risk of becoming nothing. Let us confront our challenges with a positive attitude, for no one else can do it for us.

Broke #SABC could make R1bn in golden income opportunity

So word has it that the SABC won't be screening the forthcoming Rugby World Cup because of money issues. *Big Frown*

Its all become very predictable with our national broadcaster when it comes to premium content programming. The money is simply not there.

But behold, there is a rainbow at the end of the tunnel.

The South African Broadcasting Commission has a golden opportunity to secure income.

They should insist on the set top box signals being encrypted. This would ensure that "users pay" for services.

This could result in income to the SABC of over a billion rand per annum based on the number of television-viewing households that currently exist in South Africa.

A real gold mine that's just waiting to be explored. And when its explored, I deserve my share of the Rands for my suggestion. *Wink*

How #prayer and believing changed Tyler Perry's life #MondayMotivation

Tyler Perry couldn't hold back the tears when he saw a road sign directing drivers to Tyler Perry Studios.

"Driving into work today I saw these signs on the highways being changed," he wrote on Instagram. "My eyes filled with water knowing what God has allowed to happen in my life."

The man who brought hard to-forget Madea to life was once so down and out he lived in his car. "Atlanta has truly been the promised land for me," he said.

"I came here with nothing, lived off Sylvan Road, ended up homeless and starving, but I was always praying and believing. I was always keeping the faith, knowing that if I worked hard, did my absolute best, kept my integrity, honoured every, and remained grateful through it all that everything would work out."

It paid off. In 2011 Forbes magazine named Tyler as the highest-paid man in entertainment and he's now estimated to be worth between $600 million (R9,1 billion) and $800m (R12,1bn).

Much of his success is due to sassy granny Madea but he's also done work with Oprah and made several other films.

His advice to his fans?

"Just know that it is possible to believe in your dream and still wonder how or when it's going to happen. Stay the course. Pray, work, believe and repeat. You'll get there. Just believe for as much as you can and ask God to help you believe for the rest!"

New #taxi service exclusively for women to be launched. #AmINext

Women feeling unsafe and vulnerable even on taxi rides may soon be a thing of the past as a new ride service which is predominantly owned by women‚ for women‚ is set to hit Cape Town and Johannesburg soon.

Chaufher‚ according to its website‚ seeks to empower women to go wherever they want to go by connecting them with vetted female drivers.

The service's app boasts safety features for both driver and rider in a form of a "thirdparty notification"‚ which allows a third member whom the rider knows and trusts to track the trip of their loved one.

Should either driver or rider feel their safety threatened, the service offers an emergency SOS button and 24-hour service.

Good driving is key‚ and to ensure this‚ the service will offer training for its drivers by partnering with various organisations. The training includes eye co-ordination‚ reaction techniques and defensive driving.

The service will also cater for women travelling with their young ones by offering rides with child-safety booster seats.

Of the seven founding and managing team members‚ only one is a male. They all boast extensive experience in different fields including business‚ operations and banking.

Handy #Apps to help you trace were images originate in this era of #FakeNews

At times where the country is gripped by horrific stories we are more likely to succumb to fake news stories and fake images.

Sometimes images can be traced to completely unrelated events are used to cause more damage than good. Easy access to social media has allowed for fake news to be spread easily without any verification.

Here are four apps that we can use to trace fake photos:

1. Tineye Image Recognition

This app allows users to upload a picture or a URL to trace where else it appears online. The app also allows users to create a database of pictures to be alerted if your pictures have been re-used or duplicated.

2. Reversee

This app stays true to its name. It allows you to reverse image search to find where a picture is originated from. This is nifty for anyone who is suspecting that they are being catfished.

3. Camfind

With this app, the user can take a picture with their mobile phone and have immediate access to related images. The relevant information about the picture will also accompany the results.

4. Reverse Image Search

This tool allows you to put in the picture url to find similar images on the net. The user is able to find out if a picture has been plagiarised and where the original source is from.

The Superhero art of the #Springboks as the #RWC2019 edges closer

Five young illustrators have tackled the Springbok rugby squad — from the safety of their canvasses. Using pen, ink, paper and paint, they turned 15 members of the squad into superheroes, and the sale of the artwork will be used for sports development in underprivileged areas.

Supersport scouted social media to find the illustrators for the Let's Play initiative.

Animator and digital artist Joel "Cyzo" Matladi, 28, illustrated Cheslin Kolbe, Eben Etzebeth and Damian de Allende. "I wanted something that would immortalise the players and celebrate the sport and its culture," he said.

Matladi grew up in Tafelkop, Limpopo. He later moved to Johannesburg to study animation.

Joburg graphic designer Tyler Jade de Klerk, 25, said he mixed a lot of styles to illustrate François Steyn, Handré Pollard and Duane Vermeulen. "I wanted the players to look like my favourite cartoon characters Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Dragon Ball Z. I've morphed the players with animals, given them horns and things."

Without formal training, Seyabonga Vincent Lebeko, 21, from Vereeniging, is establishing himself as VinDollar, a portrait artist.

Lebeko illustrated Siya Kolisi, Faf de Klerk and Elton Jantjies. "I'm really happy with the players I got — their features are perfect for my kind of illustration."

André Human, 32, a freelance concept artist in Cape Town, was approached to illustrate Tendai Mtawarira, Malcolm Marx and Sibusiso Nkosi. "I am more of a soccer guy but I thought it was kinda cool when I got the brief. I get to use my own fun comic bookstyle characters."

The artworks will be sold at the Gallery of Champions pop-up auction in Sandton later this month.

The #Springboks can upset the applecart in Japan. #RWC2019

There were plenty of headlines proclaiming that Springbok coach Rassie Erasmus had announced a "strong" group for the Rugby World Cup. Well, you didn't expect him to select a weak touring party, did you?

That said, though, there are more than a few South African rugby fans wondering if maybe – just maybe – this might be the Springboks' year. There would be an interesting symmetry, if nothing else, were the Boks to bring home the Webb Ellis Cup.

Kitch Christie's boys won it for the first time in 1995 in a game to end all games. Twelve years later, in 2007, captain John Smit and his team did the same. Now it is 2019, 12 years after their last triumph…

Superstition aside, though, there are certainly similarities between the 1995 heroes and this year's Springbok squad. With all due respect to all in this year's World Cup group, there are no superstars among their ranks, as was the case in 1995.

The one thing you can say about the 1995 team was that their whole was certainly bigger than the sum of their parts, even discounting their huge home ground advantage.

The 2019 vintage look the same: together, on the field, they are better than one might expect them to be, on paper at least.
