Duba proves that artisan jobs are for women too #GirlTalkZA

When the department of higher education and training launched the Decade of the Artisan campaign in 2014, Nelisiwe Duba could not believe her luck as she immediately saw this as her chance to pursue a career in the trades.

"I was still in high school when the campaign was launched," says Duba, from Ermelo in Mpumalanga.

Female South African police constable makes history #FridayThe13th

The first female SA Police Service (Saps) Special Task Force member, centre, at the passing out parade for 21 newly qualified members at the Saps Academy Tshwane in Pretoria yesterday. 

The 31 year old from the Western Cape becomes the first woman to complete the Special Task Force selection training course with no amendments to accommodate her gender and become the only female member of the Special Task Force so far.

Time for South African women to rise in 2023 #GirlTalkZA

Gender disparity remains exceedingly large in the South African economy. To contest the reality that women remain at the bottom of the economic pyramid is both naïve and ignorant. 

Worse still are the details of disaggregating the gender dimension according to the race ratio in the country. 

Black African women are stationed at the very poorest position when it comes to business ownership compared to their white and Indian counterparts.
