#Savanna wants to give consumers free bucks. Dollars for dololo! #FridayFeeling

These days influencers are an ubiquitous part of every marketing plan, including that of Savanna, South Africa's most-loved cider.

Known for its crisp, witty perspective on the ironies of South African life, it now turns that perspective on itself and its dependence on a new class of celebrity - famous not for skill or artistry, but for clout and likes.

But what if influencing is an artform? A new campaign by Grey Africa and Liquid, WPP's bespoke agency solution for Distell, proposes that it is. Kind of…Sort of…No, really.

With his tongue firmly in his cheek, Sello Maake Ka-Ncube (Lion King), one of South Africa's greatest living thespians, 'brings the secret of the stage to your Instagram page'. Over four episodes he deftly teaches method acting techniques to some of the country's top influencers. And it's hilarious.

Each episode or module deals with a topic like Unboxing, Product Reviews and the perfect Product Selfie and calls on consumers to also get "Dollas for Dololo" (Money for Nothing) with their share of a million rand in cash and giveaways.

Consumers can sign up to Siyavana Institute of Influencer by purchasing any crisp Savanna Dry, Light or Angry Lemon dialing *120*1538#, entering a unique underliner code and following the prompts for a chance to win Dollas for Dololo.

Competition ends Saturday, 31 October 2020.

From shack to PSL top gong. All eyes are on Themba Zwane tonight #DStvPrem

He came, he saw, he conquered!

Those words best describe Mamelodi Sundowns super star Themba Zwane's ascendancy in local football.

Zwane has been a gem in the Premier Soccer League over the past few seasons. It is hard to imagine he is Tupac's proverbial rose that grew on concrete.

Zwane grew up in the most harshest conditions in the densely populated township of Soweto and at one time he stayed in a shack.

But fate would have a different twist as he was spotted by a former Sundowns player turned scout playing lower league football.

He was called in for trials at Chlorkop and he found himself on the same playing field with the man he had idolised - the 2010 FIFA World Cup poster boy Teko Modise.

His first session was horrible as he could hardly walk let alone play in football boots.

But Pitso Mosimane has spotted something unique about the young lad and he wasnt prepared to give up on him.

Sundowns signed him for a whooping R1 million and the rest, as they say, is history.

Zwane's stock as a player has greatly risen tonight could be the biggest night in his entire life.

He is the front runner for the coveted Player Of The Season crown.

Zwane is looking beyond the big award. He wants to become a Masandawana legend in due course.

"Some players, such as Surprise Moriri, have played for the club before me, and players like him inspire me. They are legends of the team and I too, one day want to be a legendary Sundowns player," he said.

Zwane has won 11 major titles including five league winners medals and the CAF Champions League since joining Masandawana from Vardos in 2011.

About 90% of Sports Writers have tipped him to land the big crown.

Zwane is on his way to greatness.

The award ceremony will be live on SuperSport and all eyes will be on Zwane.

Minnie Dlamini calls it a day... At least for now

The Homeground presenter hosted her last show for 2020 on Monday, 19 October 2020, and is expected to only return to the sport and lifestyle show in 2021.

Minnie and her husband, Quinton Jones, announced their pregnancy in September 2020, and revealed that they are expecting a son in early October 2020.

#Zimbabwean makes strides in South Africa's hair care industry with a hair clinic and new product #GirlTalkZA

The decision to leave her native Zimbabwe for South Africa in search of a better life seems to have laid off for Leticia Mupawose who is making significant strides in South Africa's highly tough but lucrative hair care business.

Mupawose is a qualified pharmacologist and trichologist. She left her pharmaceutical job 16 years ago to embark on a journey which turned her hobby into a career.

And she has no regrets about it as she has ttransformed herself into a shrewd business woman of repute.

She started off her career as a hair dresser in the United States were she had gone to pursue a degree in pharmacy. She worked at a salon for pocket money and the love affair with hair began.

Now a specialist in African hair, she has turned a traditional plant called devil ' s claw, or inkunzana in Zulu, into a miracle hair grower. The plant, which grows especially in the rural areas, has been formularised and enhanced with certain oils and is called Feso Africa.

She also owns a hair clinic in the cosmopolitan suburb of Fourways in Johannesburg. The hair clinic is called Feso Regeneration Clinic.

She said after she opened hair salons in South Africa and Zimbabwe, she discovered that her clients hair was falling off and she embarked on finding a solution to the problem.

"When my mother told me about inkunzana and that they used to wash their hair with it I became interested in exploring it. I mixed it with oils and gave it to a customer who saw positive results after two weeks. I added more inkunzana and gave it to others and they all came back with exciting results. I kept collecting data and my main focus was trying to understand what the plant was doing," she said.

The hair care product has been one of her best sellers. It is now available in over 33 countries in Africa, Europe, Asia and the United States.

She now hopes to empower the unemployed through her products.

Record broken: World's fastest production car clocks 508km/h

The coveted title of 'World's Fastest Production Car' has once again changed hands, and contrary to prediction, it wasn't snapped up by a Bugatti.

There's a reason Bugatti was pegged as the favourite.

In September last year, it was breaking records with its Bugatti Chiron, topping out at 304,77mph (around 490km/h) during a run at a test track at Ehra-Lessien, Germany.

It turns out, however, that it isn't as fast as the SSC North America Tuatara, which on Saturday, October 10, 2020, set a stunning new mark, clocking in two consecutive high-speed runs of 301,07 mph and 331,15 mph (in opposite directions within one hour) for an official and incredible top speed of 316,11 mph.

That's around 508km/h, folks. Try to wrap your head around that. I'm still processing.

In addition to the title of 'Fastest Production Vehicle', the SSC Tuatara set a few more records:

503km/h – "Fastest Flying Mile on a Public Road"
516km/h – "Fastest Flying Kilometer on a Public Road"
532km/h – "Highest Speed Achieved on a Public Road"

I can't imagine the competition is pleased.

SSC North America, on the other hand, is gearing up for production with the aim of producing 100 examples of the car complete with a $1,9 million price tag.

The Tuatara uses a twin-turbocharged 5,9-litre V8 engine with a flat-plane crank, designed to deliver 1 750 hp using E85 fuel which sends power through a CIMA seven-speed computerised manual transmission and automatic MAT system.

South Africa's top five most watched soapies

Soapies are a big deal for viewers. They offer a wonderful form of escapism thanks to the melodramatic storylines, which leave audiences yearning for more. Here are the country's top five local soapies/ telenovelas.

1. Uzalo

It initially centred on two families in the township of KwaMashu: the Mdletshe family, who play a significant role in the KwaMashu Kingdom Church, and the Xulu family, who run a car hijacking syndicate. As it has progressed, the storylines have dramatically changed, but maintained the growth of some characters. On SABC1 on weekdays at 8.30pm, it has over 8.9 million viewers.

2. Generations: The Legacy

This is the second most-watched television show in South Africa, with over 7.5 million viewers.
Set against the advertising industry, the storylines explore the dreams and aspirations of its characters from different social backgrounds. Rivalry, treachery and blackmail between siblings, friends and foes are common. It airs on SABC1 at 8pm on weekdays.

3. Skeem Saam

At number three, with over 6.7 million viewers, this revolves around the ups and downs of teenagers trying to find their way through life's struggles. Now in season 7, the teenagers have come of age. It airs on SABC 1 at 6.30pm on weekdays.

4. Scandal!

What to know about Dezemba's dance craze - "John Vuli Gate"

As Dezemba draws nearer, Covivi is still a reality, but South Africans are dancing their blues away.

The newest song to hit the trend list this week is John Vuli Gate. And judging by its popularity, it's quickly taking over from the Jerusalema dance.

But will it take over the ultimate and classic crowned gem, Sister Bethina, as some internet users predicted? Only time will tell.

A group of girls, dressed in short black attire and heels, set the internet ablaze with their shaking touché moves to the song, which sparked off a nationwide challenge.

Their video was posted on TikTok and quickly made its way to other social media platforms.

According to Twitter users, the dance requires a healthy bottom and men should avoid it. It's also much less complicated than the Jerusalema steps.

It's so easy that even gogos are jumping on it.

The artist behind the song is Mapara A Jazz, consisting of duo Mano Nephawe and Leonard Malatji from Mamelodi, Pretoria.

In one day the group, who feature Ntosh Gazi and Colano on the song, received more than 70 000 new followers on their account.

"Got on TV and am receiving inboxes and e-mails from big brands already. Things can turn around real quick," said the duo.
Even Amapiano kings, Kabza De Small and Maphorisa have given the song a thumbs up.

The group explained via their Twitter account that the oneline song was taken from the 2005 local film, Tsotsi, starring Presley Chweneyagae and Terry Pheto. It basically means, John open the gate.

Nambitha Mpulwana plays Pumla in the film, and frantically yells to her husband, John (Rapulana Seiphemo), to open the gate via the intercom. But she still gets shot by Tsotsi.

The lyrics also set off a debate on what the word stocko means. Most agree that it means a beautiful female with zero brains. Used in context: "I organised a stocko for the house party."

A term, some say, will soon replace slay queen.

#Woolworths launches premium wine in 2-litre boxes

Premium and box wine in the same sentence?

Retail company Woolworths has launched a range of premium local wines in boxes. What has been described as "papsak" now comes in a premium range selling from R124.99 to R159.99.

The premium brands are Kleine Zalze chenin blanc, Pierre Jourdan Tranquille Blush, Beyerskloof pinotage, and Diemersdal sauvignon blanc.

The release of the ranges comes at a time when wine farmers in SA are struggling after the ban on alcohol sales during lockdown levels 5, 4 and 3.

The ban was lifted in level 2, however the Southern African Agri-Initiative (Saai), which represents 120 farmers in the wine and tobacco industry, said the relaxation was too little, too late for many farmers.

"Job losses have already resulted in a social crisis in the wine industry, where the loss of business is not only limited to the 2020 production year," Saai's chairperson Dr Theo de Jager said in a statement at the time.

"A farm cannot be closed down for a year, and very few farmers are able to survive two consecutive years' loss of income or turnover."

Troubled Kelly Khumalo strikes gold!

Fast-growing anthem Empini is an affirmation of love between two people who vow to go to all odd to make their union work, says songstress Kelly Khumalo.

Khumalo debuted a few tracks from her album Tvoa to an intimate audience, in conjunction with live streaming to the rest of the country, on social media.

The launch was presented by her close friend Somizi Mhlongo. Tvoa (the voice of Africa) is aptly named because Khumalo sees herself as bringing her voice to the continent and speaking up about pertinent issues that affect people's daily lives.

These include issues close to her heart such as women abuse, patriarchy, family values, spirituality and culture.

The album speaks about these issues and delves deeper into what she says has been in her heart and on her mind.

During the album's listening session, Khumalo was presented with a plaque by reality TV star and Idols judge Mhlongo and Universal Records.

Tears streamed down the star's face as she accepted her award for having her single reach "gold" status.

#Wilderer Rogue Apple Pie Moonshine is a treat like no other

This is possibly one of the most delicious alcohol around. It literally tastes like Christmas in a glass -and so versatile.

I personally enjoy it with a dash of ginger ale and fresh cut apple but it is equally as yum neat or on the rocks.

Moonshine is such a lovely name and is derived from the illicit distilleries that were hunted by American authorities during the period of Prohibition.

There are no rules governing the use of the name Moonshine in spirits, but traditionally Moonshine as distilled from fermented corn.

Wilderer's Rogue Apple Pie Moonshine is simply irresistible.

The nose is amazing and the taste even better. What a delightful burst of flavours! It is sweet but not overly so.

I love the cinnamon and nutmeg. To me this is a meal finisher and I would sooner enjoy a glass of this Moonshine than have a plate of apple pie.

The gorgeous spice flavours take you straight to your favourite Christmas feast memories. So amazing!

This wonderful spirit is a typical example of what makes craft distilleries so awesome.

The LG Wing is bold and witty #PhoneReview

LG has been struggling to captivate consumers with its smartphones in the past few years. We've witnessed them embark on a new strategic path by coming up with new and unusual products to reverse this trend.

It began with second screens for their phones.

However, the latest product to come out of LG's innovation lab is more than an extra attachment. The LG Wing 5G is slated to start a brand new Explorer series, which will take LG's knack for breathing life into novel smartphone concepts to the new heights.

The Wing is nothing short of bold, fresh, and experimental in nature. It's the very definition of trying new things and going beyond absolute practicality. The concept of the Wing feels exciting and stimulating to bitter reviewers like ourselves who are used to seeing one and the same phone form factor over and over again.

The retail unit box we got for review lacked the interior compartment's fancy internal design, which mimicked the way the Wing's display swivels.

We got an extra pair of plastic screen protectors (one for the main display and another one for the smaller secondary one) inside the new box, so the savings from the simper design must have gone in the right direction.

South African musician Master KG's hit single Jerusalema is currently the most played song in the world.

So popular is the song that revered football star Cristiano Ronaldo posted a video of himself dancing to the song.

Master KG has since bought himself a Ferrari to celebrate that feat.

That is the influence Africa has when it comes to creativity. We are able to contribute positively to the world, even though financially we are in ruins.

Steve Harvey is coming back to Mzansi for Family Feud SA season two #FridayFeeling

Family Feud SA will be returning to eTV in 2021, after a highly successful first season. The show's host, Steve Harvey, confirmed the news by responding to a tweet from local media.

In a tweet on Tuesday, 29 September 2020, he stated, "[There isn't anything] like going home."

The first season comprised 26 episodes, and featured fans of the show and public figures from shows such as Scandal!, Rhythm City and Survivor SA.

In a tweet today, 2 October 2020, Steve Harvey looked back on what he deemed the funniest moments of the first season.

The nine-minute-long video showed him adapting to South African slang and terminology, which often formed part of the answers for the questions.

He stated, "Season one of Family Feud South Africa was [hilarious]. I can't decide the funniest moment! Check it out and let me know what you think in the comments!"
