From shack to PSL top gong. All eyes are on Themba Zwane tonight #DStvPrem

He came, he saw, he conquered!

Those words best describe Mamelodi Sundowns super star Themba Zwane's ascendancy in local football.

Zwane has been a gem in the Premier Soccer League over the past few seasons. It is hard to imagine he is Tupac's proverbial rose that grew on concrete.

Zwane grew up in the most harshest conditions in the densely populated township of Soweto and at one time he stayed in a shack.

But fate would have a different twist as he was spotted by a former Sundowns player turned scout playing lower league football.

He was called in for trials at Chlorkop and he found himself on the same playing field with the man he had idolised - the 2010 FIFA World Cup poster boy Teko Modise.

His first session was horrible as he could hardly walk let alone play in football boots.

But Pitso Mosimane has spotted something unique about the young lad and he wasnt prepared to give up on him.

Sundowns signed him for a whooping R1 million and the rest, as they say, is history.

Zwane's stock as a player has greatly risen tonight could be the biggest night in his entire life.

He is the front runner for the coveted Player Of The Season crown.

Zwane is looking beyond the big award. He wants to become a Masandawana legend in due course.

"Some players, such as Surprise Moriri, have played for the club before me, and players like him inspire me. They are legends of the team and I too, one day want to be a legendary Sundowns player," he said.

Zwane has won 11 major titles including five league winners medals and the CAF Champions League since joining Masandawana from Vardos in 2011.

About 90% of Sports Writers have tipped him to land the big crown.

Zwane is on his way to greatness.

The award ceremony will be live on SuperSport and all eyes will be on Zwane.
