Newsroom Africa producer went from selling muffins to provide for her siblings to making it big in the industry #MondayMotivation

Lumka Bekindawo's path to becoming a news producer at Newzroom Afrika has been marked by resilience and determination, overcoming challenges along the way. At 24, she had to leave her final year of studies to care for her siblings after her mother's passing, leading her to start a muffin-making business to provide for her family.

Despite facing adversity, the 31-year-old managed to complete her public relations management diploma in 2020, navigating through the difficulties of the Covid-19 pandemic. Starting her media career at community radio stations, Bekindawo eventually made her way to Mpuma Kapa TV in Gqeberha, focusing on content from the Eastern Cape.

Reflecting on her journey, Bekindawo shared, "Life without mom was hard... I had to drop out and sell muffins in Mthatha to bring food to the table." After hustling in various roles, she returned home in 2020, only to receive a job offer from Mpuma Kapa TV as a journalist, fulfilling her dream of being on television.

Her story is a testament to perseverance and dedication in the face of adversity.
