Julius Malema motivated by desire to inspire

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema hopes to inspire others as an official graduate of a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Malema on Wednesday evening received his BA degree, with a major in political science, at the ZK Matthews Great Hall in Pretoria.

Speaking to reporters after receiving his degree, Malema said he was motivated to complete his studies by the desire to be a role model to others.

News24 quotes him as saying: “I graduated with the sole intention of wanting to inspire many other people. We all know that revolutionaries have a responsibility to lead by example through accumulating knowledge.”

Malema also admitted that it was no easy feat to finish his degree, as he faced several obstacles brought about by his career as a politician, but that he refused to be deterred.

“There was a point where I had to write exams and then after go to court when the ANC prosecuted me. The table we were studying on, Sars had to come and take and we had to look for alternative tables,” he added.

“The whole thing was just an attempt to destroy an individual. I refused to succumb to the agenda of my enemies. I refused to allow my enemies to determine my destination. I’m in charge of my education.”
