I was one of the many rugby enthusiasts who was excited after Cornal Hendricks announced his return to professional rugby. His career had been illustrious before a serious heart condition tackled him out of the game.
Well my joy has been short lived as news coming from France is that his much publicised proposed move to Toulon will not go ahead.
28-year-old Hendricks, who has turned out 12 times for the Springboks, had to stop playing in 2016 because of a serious heart condition.
It was therefore a shock when Toulon announced in December last year that the wing would be joining them. However, following a series of medical and physical tests, which Hendricks passed, the club has announced that he won't be wearing their jersey in the 2016/17 campaign.
Cornal is that sort of rugby player who has the sort of faith that moves mountains and I'm sure 2017 will witness his professional return to the game he dearly loves.
