Sundowns back in CAF Champions League

Mamelodi Sundowns are back in the Caf Champions League, replacing AS Vita who were disqualified for fielding an ineligible player, Caf said in statement on Tuesday
Vita eliminated Sundowns from the Champions League on away-goals after a 2-2 aggregate draw which saw the South African side being relegated to the Confederation Cup.

The player in question is Idrissa Traore he played two legs of the preliminaries against Mafunzo of Zanzibar and went on to miss both legs of their match against Ferroviario de Maputo.

Traore missed the first leg against Sundowns but featured in the second leg at the Masterpieces Moripe Stadium in April.

The draw for the group phase will take place today at the CAF Secretariat in Cairo, Egypt at 14H30 local time (12H30 GMT).

For the Orange CAF Champions League, the eight surviving teams are Al Ahly, Zamalek (both Egypt), Sundowns (South Africa), ASEC Mimosas (Ivory Coast), ES Setif (Algeria), Enyimba (Nigeria), Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco) and Zesco (Zambia).
