Banyana Banyana beat Zimbabwe

Banyana Banyana's preparations for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games are on track.

South Africa beat Zimbabwe one-nil in an international friendly played at the Makhulong Stadium in East Rand. However, the match showed that there is still a lot of spade work to be done prior to the big tournament.

South Africa are 54 in the World Fifa Rankings while Zimbabwe are 94. These are not ideal positions for the Southern African countries who have both qualified for the upcoming Olympics.

Zimbabwe will compete for the first time in the Olympics; however, they have been facing serious financial problems.

Banyana are in Group A alongside hosts Brazil, Denmark and Iraq. Zimbabwe on the other hand will take on Germany, Canada and Australia in Group F.
