Here are 4 reasons why we love #etvScandal's Dintle

4 Reasons why we love Pasi Koetle aka Dintle on Scandal… Love her or hate her But beautiful Dintle has some of the best lines known to soapie land. Scandal!, weekdays at 7:30 PM.

If you thought kids say the funniest things, you clearly have not been paying attention to Dintle's script. Sometimes she makes us cringe, but in most cases she has us cracking with laughter.

Here are some of the reasons why we love Dintle:

1. When it comes to stupidity

Dintle is definitely not the brightest spark in the room. In fact, she confessed that she loves school, but school doesn't love her. Remember when she was selling diamonds and was asked if she had a certificate? She replied by asking if they meant a matric certificate!

2. She's quick to think on her feet

As slow as she can be at times, Didi's quick to think on her feet. When she was coming on to Mthunzi, she started talking business and even proposed a merger between Thebe Holdings and New Horizons. Guess they do not call her "Double D" (Dintle Delivers) for nothing!

3. When it comes to self-confidence

Dintle may lack many things, but she doesn't lack self-confidence. She has proclaimed that Kim Kardashian's behind has nothing on hers. Didi recently told Romeo that men are so into her that she couldn't understand why Mthunzi chose Xolile over her bootylicious body!

4. On name calling

When it comes to name calling, Dintle doesn't cut any corners. She named her daughter, Jewel, short for jewellery as she's precious to her. Because of her, we now know Layla as "Gogo-Layla" while Romeo is affectionately known as "Roro." She once called Quinton the only "Yellow-bone" she's ever slept with. And when YV was wearing a dress with pearls, Dintle sarcastically called her Pearl Thusi. Hlengiwe is now a skinny latte.

Phew! You'd swear Dintle writes her own script.

You can get your #cryptocurrency in Mzansi for just R70. #Safcoin

Sales of SAFCOIN, an exclusive African cryptocurrency, opened this month, giving South Africans an opportunity to invest in tokens before the rest of the world.

During the Initial Coin Offering (ICO), 500 000 SAFCOIN tokens will be made available to investors with a valid South African bank account, for just R70 per token.

In October, the remaining 5 million crypto coins will be listed for sale on local and international cryptocurrency exchanges, as well as on an exclusive SAFCOIN exchange, when the price of the coins is expected to increase. At the same time, all valid tokens will be converted into tradeable coins.

Neil Ferreira, director and co-founder at blockchain company FHM, says SAFCOINaims to make cryptocurrency investment easy and understandable for average South Africans, from the curious dabbler to the serious investor.

"We want to make cryptocurrency trading as accessible as possible, to as many Africans as possible," says Ferreira. "So it was crucial that our platform was easy to use, secure, and that the tokens were affordable. For the price of a takeaway meal, South Africans can be part of the growing cryptocurrency movement."

You can become a cryptocurrency investor in under 10 minutes. Here's how:

Visit https://safcoin.co.zaRegister for free as a new user.Select 'Buy Tokens Now'.Read through and accept the terms & conditions.Select the number of tokens you'd like to buy, at R70 each.Choose a verification method – email or text message – and enter the one-time password that will be sent to you.Pay quickly and securely with i-Pay and confirm the transaction on your phone. That's it. You're officially a cryptocurrency investor!Referral programme: Tell others, get free tokens

Security

Buying tokens through the SAFCOIN website is 100% secure, with all instant EFT transactions facilitated by online payment processor, i-Pay. i-Pay is trusted by merchants and buyers to facilitate instant payment on all smartphone and desktop devices, using a simple three-step payment process.

You will be required to enter your Internet banking details and confirm all transactions on your phone. For your peace of mind, when you get to payment stage, check that the URL is green, that it is preceded by 'https://' and that there is a padlock in the browser bar, to indicate that you are transacting on a secure site.

Cryptocurrency for Africans, by Africans

"Africa has typically been left behind in most cryptocurrency rushes and currencies like Bitcoin are now unaffordable for a lot of people. By investing in SAFCOIN during the ICO phase, investors can secure their coins at a lower price, with the potential to grow their investment over time. However, as with any investment, there is a risk attached and we advise investors to never invest more than they can afford to lose," says Ferreira.

Cryptocurrency works on the supply-and-demand principle: the more people that invest and the higher the demand for the currency, the higher the price will be. An ICO is essentially a crowdfunding initiative for a new currency that allows early investors to purchase tokens at a rate that will likely be lower than the initial listing price, depending on demand generated.

When Bitcoin launched in 2010, one Bitcoin was worth $0.003. At its peak, Bitcoin surged to $17,900 in December 2017 before dropping to $6 200 in February this year.

Despite the market volatility, Ferreira says cryptocurrency is here to stay, as a store of wealth and as a revolutionary payment processing system with the ability to facilitate easy, affordable cross-border payments.

To assist interested investors who are unfamiliar with cryptocurrency trading,SAFCOIN will set up a support call centre and walk-in service centres that will assist with SAFCOIN trading.

The post #Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S4 is an Android tablet that becomes a pseudo-laptop when you need it

Samsung finally has a proper competitor to Apple's 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and it's called the Galaxy Tab S4.

The successor to the Galaxy S3 tablet has a larger screen, longer battery life, and four speakers for louder sound, but it's most important feature is something entirely different: It's the built-in Samsung DeX functionality that transforms it from an ordinary Android tablet experience into a more desktop-like one.

Samsung DeX, for those who aren't familiar, is an accessory Samsung cooked up for the Galaxy S8. With the phone plugged in and connected to a external monitor, keyboard, and mouse, it essentially provided a desktop-like experience complete with multi-window support just like with Windows.

Citing the fast-changing ways people are working on the go these days, Samsung's Senior Vice President and General Manager Alanna Cotton said the company needed to build a tablet that offered more than just keyboard and stylus support.

"People are doing work differently than they've ever before," Cotton told media at Samsung's flagship 837 store in New York. "Our goal is to power the individual, to power the enterprise."

Available on Aug. 10 and starting at $649.99 for the WiFi model, the Tab S4 is clearly priced to compete with the 10.5-inch iPad Pro, which starts at the same price.

The WiFi version will be available on Samsung.com, Amazon, and Best Buy. There will also be an LTE model, which will be available on Verizon (other carriers such as Sprint, AT&T, and U.S. Cellular will stock later) with pricing TBD.

Galaxy Tab S4 basics

The 10.5-inch Super AMOLED screen (2,560 x 1,600) is larger than the previous 9.7-inch display on the Tab S3, but the tablet's overall glass and metal dimensions are barely bigger. Samsung achieved this by slimming the bezels on and removing the home button.

Embedded into the Tab S4's top bezel is an 8-megapixel camera. Around back, there's a 13-megapixel shooter with autofocus and LED flash capable of recording video in 4K resolution at up to 30 fps.

The Tab S4 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip and 4GB of RAM. It comes in two storage configurations (64GB or 256GB) and there's also a built-in microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 400GB. The tablet runs Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung's own TouchWiz UI skin.

Most impressive is the huge battery. The Tab S4 packs a 7,300 mAh battery (up from the Tab S3's 6,000 mAh), which Samsung claims will last for up to 16 hours of video playback. The tablet also supports Samsung'
s Fast Charging technology via its USB-C port.

Firing out of the tablet's sides are four speakers. Like the stereo speakers on the Galaxy S9, these are tuned by the audio experts at AKG and support Dolby Atmos Sound. They sound pretty good.

Included with the Tab S4 is an S Pen. It's not as elegant-looking as an Apple Pencil or a Surface Pen, but at least you don't need to pay extra for it. It works just like any S Pen on Samsung's Galaxy Note phones and previous Tab S tablets.

Bring the S Pen near the Tab S4 and you'll be able to access S Pen software staples like Air Command, Screen-off Memo, Live Message, and Translation.

Built-in Samsung Dex for a PC-like experience

The Tab S4 is a good refresh for an Android tablet, but like I said earlier, it's the built-in DeX functionality that differentiates it from the iPad Pro.

Pop the Tab S4 into Samsung's own $149.99 Book Cover Keyboard case and the tablet automatically switches out of the usual icon-based Android home screen into DeX mode. The mode can also be manually turned on if you have the tablet connected to a wireless mouse and keyboard and external monitor.

In DeX mode, Android's interface morphs into one that resembles a PC desktop. Android's navigation buttons move to a bar on the bottom along with open apps and and all your notifications.

Apps optimized for DeX mode — Samsung's own email, gallery, and files apps are a few off the top of my head — aren't just phone-sized apps that open up on a larger screen. They actually support resizable windows and have right-click options. Samsung says the tablet supports up to 20 open app windows.

For working professionals, DeX mode should bring a boost for productivity. Though it's not quite a full-blown PC, you get a many of the same features you'd get on a PC or Mac. For example, there's drag-and-drop support for many apps. In one demo, a Samsung rep dragged a photo from the files app into a new email.

Games that have mouse and keyboard support will also play more like on PC. Somebody tell Epic Games to bring Fortnite to Android with DeX support, please!

In my brief demo, DeX mode worked pretty well and only took a couple of seconds to switch between modes. The only thing that seemed to stump many tech reporters was how to turn DeX mode off. You'd think disconnecting the tablet from Book Cover Keyboard would also automatically switch it back into regular Android mode, but that's not the case. Turns out you have to manually switch back to Android mode via a button in the navigation bar.

Still, built-in DeX mode looked really sweet. Not having to lug around another dock accessory is a huge plus.

Tablets are back, baby

Apple's iPad has dominated the tablet market for years with most competition falling to the side of the road.

But tablets look to be making a comeback this year, mostly thanks to companies refocusing their features on productivity.

Microsoft's launching the Surface Go. Samsung's now got the Tab S4. And Apple beefed up its cheapest iPad with Apple Pencil support. Not to mention, the iPad Pros are rumored to getting a big  refresh later this year with slimmer bezels and Face ID.

Connie Ferguson's letter to her mum is so heartfelt. Read it here

Poet John Donne famously penned Holy Sonnet X, also known as Death Be Not Proud, and its words continue to resonate for many who have lost someone.

Actress Connie Ferguson opened up about losing her mother and how she continues to wake up and expect a message from her.

"Moms, I will never stop loving you. Never stop missing you. I cherish all the memories I have of you. Sometimes your physical absence still doesn't feel real. Sometimes I think it's all a dream, that I'll wake up to a text message from you first thing in the morning. Those were my favorite!❤️."

In a tribute posted on social media on the anniversary of her mother's death, Connie explained that it was a particularly hard day as she remembered her mother. In the sadness and grief, Connie said she found solace in the fact that her mom cheered her and loved her.

"I believe with all my being that you have been most present in your absence, that you are advocating for us on the other side, cheering us on and celebrating our successes. I learnt unconditional love from you. It's a legacy I carry proudly in my heart, knowing that you are and will always be there."

Unemployment in #Mzansi is worse than we feared

The unemployment rate  in the second quarter deteriorated markedly relative to our expectations, climbing to 27.2% from 26.7 in the first quarter as the economy shed 90,000 jobs. This was despite the labour force growing by only 12,000 people in the quarter. The ranks of the unemployed swelled by 102,000 to just less than 6.1 million people while the number of discouraged work-seekers increased by just under 77,000. The expanded definition of unemployment, which includes discouraged work-seekers rose from 36.7% in 1Q18 to 37.2% in 2Q18.

The manufacturing, social, community and personal services, and wholesale and retail trade sectors accounted for the bulk of the job losses, with 105,000 (-5.7% q/q), 93,000 (-2.5% q/q) and 57,000 (-1.7% q/q) jobs lost respectively.

The agriculture sector lost just over 3,000 jobs in the quarter, but has created 8,000 jobs from the same time last year, reflective of the improved farming conditions and the cessation of the drought.

Contrary to our expectations, the struggling mining sector added 38,000 jobs in the quarter while the equally embattled construction sector added 45,000 jobs. The transport and household sectors offset the losses by a further 75,000 jobs, but the financial, real-estate and business services sector saw 3,000 less roles.

Perhaps the biggest surprise came from the electricity, gas and water sector (utilities), which added 18,000 jobs, hiking headcount by 12.2% q/q. In the context of lower energy demand and production, and a soaring wage bill, this holds significant risk not only for the utilities' finances, but for fiscal consolidation. With the country's GDP growth forecast being revised lower, and still depressed business confidence, it is unlikely that there will be any real improvement in the unemployment rate over the medium term.
