Converse South Africa launches a #kickthedebt drive

The sneaker brand Converse has had an advertising focus on trying to alleviate student debt – as tertiary education is expensive and, as a result, student debt is sky-high.

Due to the overwhelming response from a previous campaign, Converse SA will be giving away R2 million towards relieving student debt.

This year, the campaign has been renamed "Create Next" – a name fuelled by those who broke barriers before, the brand says.

Converse has built up a community of "All Stars", who have been taken under their wing and given opportunities to be part of skills-building workshops and mentorship talks.

In addition to the R2 million pledge, Converse will be giving an additional R500 000 to those who dare to live on their own terms, who break barriers and create their next opportunity.

The campaign calls all artists, innovators and game changers.

Converse is reaching out to communities to tell their stories of inspiration, connection and innovation. The brand wants to help communities create what comes next for their bright future.

Go to ConverseCreateNext.co.za to submit your nomination form. The ongoing campaign will run until the end of February.
