Five ways to have the perfect #summer outdoors skin

Summer is synonymous with enjoying the outdoors and social events filling up your calendar. Whatever the occasion, you'll want to look your best. Enter the glowing, dewy face to elevate any look.

Here's how to achieve a naturally glowing face:

Invest in a serum with anti-oxidants

A little goes a long way when it comes to serums, as they're concentrated formulae packed with essential ingredients for healthy skin. Find one that's packed with anti-oxidants to help your skin fight stress and free radicals. Serums with pentapeptides also boost your skin's collagen production, leaving it looking plump, youthful and radiant.

Don't skip exfoliation day

Exfoliating has a number of benefits that culminate in glowing skin, from removing dirt trapped deep in your skin, to reducing the size and appearance of large pores. Skipping your exfoliation routine can contribute to breakouts and blemishes – all enemies of glowing skin. Keep the frequency to once a week if you have sensitive skin – over-exfoliating can lead to irritated skin.

Glow from the inside out

As you know, what you eat can have an impact on your overall health, including that of your skin. Enjoy your favourite summer salad with lycopene-rich fruits such as mangos, watermelon and papayas, which pack powerful anti-oxidants.

Wipe down your phone

It's a no-brainer that your mobile device collects a lot of bacteria as it touches every surface and comes into contact with hands. Gently wipe it down with a microfibre cloth, which is great for removing dust and oil from your screen without damaging it.

Drink your water

Keep hydrated and flush out toxins, while also helping keeping your skin cells – which are made of protein, lipids, minerals and water – healthy. Add slices of cucumber for that added nutritional boost and flavour.

Microsoft Edge Ready To Replace Internet Explorer

Out with the old, and in with the new: the new browser from Microsoft that will make its debut in Windows 10 is to be called Microsoft Edge.

That’s the word out of the Build conference keynote address that took place last night, straight from the mouth of Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore. Naturally, Twitter immediately exploded with sniggers and references to U2’s guitarist, but the more mature among us shut up and listened.

Three months ago, the browser was announced as Project Spartan, and it had two stated goals: to be the default browser in Windows, and to replace Internet Explorer.

But Microsoft clearly has loftier ambitions than just those: during the announcement Joe Belfiore showed how the browser is able to use browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox.

He even showed how it’s possible to port over existing extensions quickly and easily, as doing so requires only minor modifications to each extension’s code. That should please a lot of developers, and encourage more to bring their work over to the new browser.

For people who make extensive use of those other browsers, this should come as rather intriguing news. It means you can still use your favourite extensions in Edge, but with added Edge functionality and the new browser’s slick, minimalistic interface.

The reason it’s called Edge is because it uses a brand new rendering engine called EdgeHTML, which Wikipedia describes as “…a proprietary layout engine developed by Microsoft for its Edge web browser. It is a fork of Trident designed for improved support of web standards”. Supporting the newest web standards has not been Internet Explorer’s strong suit, making this a rather significant development.

Edge’s other big features include distraction-free browsing, extensive Cortana integration (Cortana is Microsoft’s built-in helper, sort of like their Siri), a new tab interface, the ability to write on and share any web page and quite a bit more.

The browser will make its official debut as Edge and not Project Spartan in the latest build of the Windows 10 technical preview, build 10105.

Samsung South Africa Launches Smart Camera

Samsung Electronics South Africa has launched the new DV180F SMART Camera, that features front LCD capabilities.

The portable and stylish features of the camera, along with its classic design and modern touch, make it the “go-to” device for family and self-portraits.

“The Samsung DV180F is the perfect companion for consumers who want an entry-level camera equipped with up-to-the-minute functionality and the latest technology. With a powerful 16 megapixel lens, our newest SMART camera captures those treasured moments with outstanding detail,” said Michael Gibson, Digital Imaging Part Leader at Samsung Electronics South Africa.

“This fantastic device also comes with digital image stabilisation, which helps in taking precise shots, even when you’re on-the-move.”

Boasting a front LCD Camera, the Samsung DV180F SMART camera lines up the best shot and allows everyone to be part of the image. The best snaps can then be shared on social networks whenever a Wi-Fi connection is available. The range of Smart Filters on the camera inspires users to produce entertaining images and creative edits; plenty of fun can be had by all, with filters such as Cartoon – which makes any photo look like an animated film scene.

Consumers don’t have to worry about running out of memory, even on-the-go; with Cloud, photos can be wirelessly uploaded to cloud services so that images can then be viewed anytime on a smartphone or tablet, or downloaded to a PC later.

“At Samsung, we always strive to offer our customers the next level in smart technology,” continues Gibson. “The DV180F does just that – with its wireless sharing capabilities it is great for people who want to update their friends instantly.”

Additional Features include:

Smart Auto (Still & Movie) instantly analyses key elements of your composition then automatically adjusts to capture the best shot with a multitude of different photo modes and movie modes.
Live Panorama allows users to capture every detail of skylines and mountain ranges to create astounding 180º panoramic images. Images can be previewed on the LCD before it is even snapped.
Samsung SMART Camera App features Remote Viewfinder, AutoShare, and MobileLink without having to download each app individually. Consumers can open all three apps at once, with the touch of a finger.
Software Upgrade Notifier provides a notification window on the camera’s screen to tell users when an update is available. Connect the camera to your PC for the upgrade, and start using the latest features without delay.

Oh Schuks! Leon Schuster Is Back With New Movie

Filming on Leon Schuster’s latest comedy caper has now completed. Fans can catch their first glimpse of Schuks! Pay Back the Money!, as the teaser trailer releases today in cinemas nationwide.

In Schuks! Pay Back the Money!, Schuks inadvertently loses rugby’s Holy Grail – the Currie Cup – and what follows is a hilarious journey to pay for what he has done.

The film reunites the South African funny man with another comedy giant Desmond Dube, who also appeared in Panic Mechanic (1996) and The Millennium Menace (1999), as well as Ivan D. Lucas and Gerrit Schoonhoven, reprising the roles of bumbling villains Bossie and Savage from 1991’s Short ‘n’ Sweet. Adding a touch of glamour, SA Idols finalist and South African theatre award winner Bianca Le Grange makes her big screen debut in the movie.

In addition to the laugh-a-minute missing Currie Cup adventure, the movie is also rich with candid camera gags for which Schuster is so well known and which feature a host of well-known South African personalities and celebrities – both past and current.

Schuks! Pay Back the Money! also reunites the highly successful Schuster team with producer André Scholtz and director and co-writer Gray Hofmeyr. Says Scholtz: “After I read the script I said that there was no way I wasn’t getting involved. The storyline was laugh-out loud funny and I knew that, together with the abundant list of fresh, new candid camera gags, this was going to be a truly hysterically funny film.”

Scholtz, who has worked with Schuster on films such as You Must Be Joking!, Panic Mechanic, Sweet ‘n Short and Oh Schuks…I’m Gatvol, says Schuster is returning to his roots as South Africa’s foremost prankster and funny guy in this movie.

Schuks! Pay Back the Money! releases in cinemas on 28 August, 2015 and will be distributed by The Walt Disney Company Africa under the Touchstone Pictures banner. - Channel24

Africa T20 Cricket Cup Launched

CRICKET SOUTH AFRICA (CSA) today launched the 16-team Africa T20 Cup which will be the African curtain-raiser to the 2015-16 season.

Zimbabwe, Kenya and Namibia have accepted invitations to compete in the event with the other participants being the 12 CSA Affiliates as well as Associate Member, KZN Inland.

The tournament will be a World Cup-style competition, consisting of four pools of four teams each with the winners of each pool advancing to the semi-finals and eventually to the final.

Easterns (Sahara Willowmoore Park), North West (Senwes Park), Griquas (Diamond Oval) and Free State (Mangaung Oval) will be the venues for the four pool matches and some of these venues will also host the semi-final and final depending on which teams advance and based on an assessment of the quality of venue hosting during the pool stages.

The tournament will run from September 4 to October 4.

All Franchise players will play for the province at which they are contracted although a limit of four has been placed on the number to be fielded at the same time. This limit would not include the contracted Protea  players who are restricted to one in the starting XI. In addition, all teams will be required to field at least two under-21 players.

Transformation targets will be the same as that which applies for the CSA semi-professional competitions (six players of colour and three black Africans).

“This tournament is an exciting new concept for our cricket,” commented CSA Chief Executive, Haroon Lorgat. “It should provide impetus at the start of a season with exciting and competitive playing opportunities plus revenue generating potential for each team.

“We are keen to lead the way in developing an Africa-wide competition.

“With international Twenty20 matches to follow against England and Australia later in the season, this tournament will provide an early start for players to stake a claim in next year’s ICC World Twenty20 squad.

“A key differentiator is for each team to include two under-21 players which will give rising stars the chance to play with our fully fledged professionals. It is an important factor in developing talent that emerging players can learn from the best.

“I am delighted that SuperSport will be providing live and full coverage of 10 playing days, including the semi-finals and final, and thank them once again for their fantastic support of South African cricket,” concluded Mr. Lorgat.

CSA has also announced the appointment of Makhaya Ntini as the Africa T20 Cup Ambassador.

“I am both delighted and honoured to be invited to fulfil this role,” Ntini said. “The development of African cricket is something that is very close to my heart and I welcome this important initiative.”
