Live Lotto Draw’ presenter Nimrod Nkosi has joined the cast of popular Mzansi Magic soapie, ‘Isibaya’.
The Sowetan reports that Nkosi and ‘Isibaya’ both confirmed that he is soon to make his appearance on the show.
The actor and TV presenter will play the part of Memel taxi association chairman, Alfred Phakathi, who will be introduced to viewers in June.
Phakathi joins the show as part of a new storyline, which involves the plans of Judas Ngwenya (Menzi Ngubane) and Samson Ndlovu (Bheki Mkhwane) to approach the Memel taxi association about doing business.
Speaking to the Sowetan about his new role, Nkosi said: “Without giving much about the role, I will be working closely with the famous two families, the Ngwenyas and Ndlovus.”
And when approached for comment, ‘Isibaya’ producer Kutlwano Ditsele said the future of Nkosi’s role on the show will be determined by the natural progression of the story.
“All I can say is that Nimrod is part of Isibaya. It is a small role and, since the whole story is developing, it is difficult to say if the role will be extended,” Ditsele explained.
Well-known as the former presenter of popular 90s SABC music show, ‘Jam Alley’, Nkosi has also been in ‘Scandal!’, ‘The Wild’, and ‘Soul City’.
Set against the backdrop of the taxi industry, ‘Isibaya’ unfolds in both the city and the rural Thukela Valley in KwaZulu-Natal. The storyline revolves around a century-old feud between the powerful Zungu and Ndlovu families, and the return of influential family member Mpiyakhe Zungu as a zombie after a fatal accident. Big shots in the taxi business, both families are determined to build their fortune, but greed and revenge slowly starts tearing them apart.
‘Isibaya’ airs on Mzansi Magic. Mondays to Fridays at 8:30pm.
