Rumour has it that DJ Sbu might soon be back behind the microphone after he was last year fired from Metro FM, but this time as a presenter on a commercial KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) radio station.
The Daily Sun reports that sources say Sbu, whose real name is Sibusiso Leope, is in talks with Vuma FM about a possible job at the station.
Bigwigs at Vuma FM are said to be making some big changes to their line-up, in an effort to increase their listenership.
“We all know that people love DJ Sbu,” an insider told the Daily Sun.
“The radio station’s management is hoping he will bring in more listeners.”
Management allegedly wants Sbu behind the microphone for one of its high-profile slots; either as the presenter of the Kwasa Breakfast Show or the Vuma FM Drive time show.
When approached for comment, Sbu confirmed that he might join the KZN-based station, saying: “We are in talks about a possible partnership.”
As did Vuma FM managing director, Tony Malan, who said: “He will be presenting the afternoon drive or breakfast show but it will all depend on the negotiation of his contract. Let us finish negotiations before commenting.”
DJ Sbu was sacked from his job at Metro FM in 2015, after he promoted his energy drink, MoFaya, while presenting an award at the station’s annual awards show, without paying a cent for the very expensive airtime.
