Mamelodi Sundowns’ Premiership and Telkom Knockout double this season ensured they received more than twice as much prize money as the next top earner.
The Brazilians’ coffers are full to bursting after a successful campaign saw them win both the league and the TKO titles, while they were knocked out of the both the Nedbank Cup and MTN8 competitions at the quarter-final stages.
Sundowns were awarded R10 million for their league triumph, as well as R4.5m in Q-Innovation prize money for their per-quarter performances, while picking up a cool R4.25m for their TKO crown.
Added to the R800,000 for the MTN8 and another R400,000 from the Nedbank Cup, Downs raked in a mammoth R19.9m this term.
SuperSport United were the second top earners in the country with R9.55m, thanks in large part to the R7m they received from winning the Nedbank Cup.
Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates will be disappointed with their hauls this season, bringing in just R3.9m and R3.65m respectively, while Jomo Cosmos earned the least prize money of all the top-flight clubs pulling in R700,000.
