South Africa's operatic soprano Pretty Yende landed a lucrative spot on American television when she sang on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in New York this week.
This was Colbert's first show of the year.
Yende delivered a powerful and inspiring rendition of Una Voce Poco Fa from the Metropolitan Opera production of The Barber of Seville, earning her a standing ovation.
She portrays Rosina in the current season of the opera. She also promoted A Journey, her debut album.
Oprah Winfrey was one of the guests on The Late Show and Yende managed to sneak a selfie with her.
The 31-year-old from Piet Retief in Mpumalanga took to social media to express her joy at meeting the queen of talk.
"Finally met this incredible woman. Oprah Winfrey... what a day it has been... I am grateful for this precious moment. 2017 is off on a very high note," she wrote.
