Our women's senior national soccer team Banyana Banyana are playing Morocco in the final of the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (Wafcon) tomorrow.
Banyana Banyana have never won the Wafcon before after making it to the finals five times in the past years.
The team members have already been guaranteed R55,000 each in bonuses.
The SA Football Association has promised Banyana a bigger package of R9.2m in bonuses, with each player ensured to take home a whopping R400,000, if they come back home with the Wafcon trophy.
We asked Sowetan readers to send messages of support to the team that has done the country proud by making it this far ahead of the match at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Morocco at 10pm SA time.
Hlengiwe Maphumulo said: "Congratulations for reaching the final Banyana Banyana. The whole of South Africa is so proud of you.
"Please bring the cup back home. We know that there's going to be thousands of Moroccan fans at the stadium but just know that 60 million of us South Africans will be cheering [on] you guys – from start to finish! Congratulations in advanced to you bunch of winners. It's [the cup is] coming home."
Lord Apollo wished Banyana well and also made fun of the R22m flag monument minister of sports, arts and culture Nathi Mthethwa's department wanted to install. The ministry said the 100m high flag glows in the dark.
"The way you are raising our South African flag high, it's shining more than the flag Nathi Mthethwa wanted to buy. Keep doing the good job Queens of Africa," Lord Apollo said .
Bokgosi Bokaba congratulated Banyana for winning all their matches so far.
"Now you're in the final, meeting the host of the tournament, so you must know this is going to be [the] toughest match ever as you're not [playing] only against Morocco. I think even other nations' supporters will be behind Morocco as some feel like we robbed them in order to reach the final.
"...Please play your hearts out as South Africans will be praying for you to do well and come back with the trophy. While you play, don't be scared... Fear no-one. You're the best, that's why you're in a final... Another thing, convert your chances and the team must pray before the match; good luck ladies. I love you guys. Make us proud."
Jeremiah Skhosana said: "[A] true reflection for who we are, a winning nation. Come back home with that trophy girls."
Richard Munwanati said: "Ladies, our country needs you more than ever... South Africans are behind you. Good luck."
Khaya Singama wrote: "I believe they're gonna bring the cup [home]."
