Award winning actress Baby Cele spurns big TV role

South African award winning actress, Baby Cele has opened up on why she turned down a big Television gig. She turned down that major deal over money.

During an interview, Baby told TshisaLIVE that she recently had a run-in with a big name production over payment.

She adds that she felt insulted when they announced to her the less payment she was set to received from the big name TV production for three months hard work that they were supposed to receive from her.

Baby Cele says that the payment she was meant to receive from the company was less and that she earned that kind of salary way back 15 years ago.

The "My Perfect Family" actress decides not to mention names and also the Television company but rather reveals she turned down the job over money.

"What frustrates me the most about the industry is payments. You have to fight all the time. Recently, I felt so insulted. I received a call, and I won't mention names, but one of the producers got someone from their office to call me. They wanted me to join their soapie. It was a big name, and it was before Uzalo.

"When they told me the fee, how much I was going to get for three months work, it was appalling. I used to get that fee years ago, more than 15 years ago,"  Baby Cele said.

Baby Cele is popularly known for her acting roles in movies such as; "Jump The Gun," "Voices of Sarafina!", "Backstage."

The actress thinks that the low payments big companies make frustrate always work and the entertainment industry, for example, she turned down a big TV gig after hearing from the producer who called her to let her know how much she was supposed to receive after delivering her services to the company.
