The première of the much-anticipated movie, Fistful of Vengeance, where renowned actress Pearl Thusi stars as a gun-slinging warrior, saw her become a subject of the talk as the movie punched to the top on Netflix becoming a global success.
It is evident Thusi pulled out all the stops to master her role in the movie released a week ago, that many film fanatics are fascinated with.
As a result she has been receiving praise from notables across the country for her acting skills as well the success of the movie.
This also saw her receive praise from American actress, Queen Latifah. Thusi delved into a conversation with The Star about the movie.
"I guess I have been part of the movie for over a year now. It is nice to see something that you worked hard on with a group of really incredible people do better than you expected. I was hoping that it does well but you never know how some things are going to go until people have gotten to experience it and decide for themselves how they feel about it."
The success comes after season one of Queen Sono, a series in which Thusi played a leading role, was cancelled on Netflix as because of Covid-19 challenges in 2020.
The star shared how she felt when that happened.
"I did not process it until much later. I just kept it moving. I guess during Covid-19 everyone was in survival mode. So I was also in that mode. And I am not the one to dwell too much on disappointment. I find ways to keep the ship in motion."
Asked how she managed to ace all the action scenes, Thusi said it was also a discovery to her as she never thought she had it in her.
"If you keep doing something you grow and become better at it. I think that I have been doing this and I have been growing at it, so maybe this time around it was a lot more action that I think I have done before in a short space of time."
