South Africans need to adopt a culture of entrepreneurship, says businessman Sbu Leope.
The DJ turned businessman says for most people in the entertainment industry, breaking into the business industry is a logical step towards investing money accumulated through fame.
Leope was on POWER Perspective with JJ Tabane to talk about his journey from the entertainment world into the business world. Leope says that South Africa's poor entrepreneurship landscape is a result of a failure to establish a culture of entrepreneurs after the dawn of democracy in 1994.
He argues that in many other African countries such as Kenya and Nigeria, entrepreneurship is a culture.
"The spirit of entrepreneurship has pretty much become second hand to our brothers and sisters in Nigeria.
"That's why you see Nigerians in China [and] they speak Mandarin, they hook you up where ever you want to go. They are the plug," says Leope.
He wishes South Africa can adopt a culture of entrepreneurs moving forward.
"That's a culture, and I think that a culture we need to adopt here at home," adds Leope.
