Makhadzi celebrates BET win with community

BET Award-winning singer Makhadzi returned to her humble beginnings in Ṱhohoyanḓou, Limpopo, on Friday, celebrating her recent victory with the community that supported her from the start.  The singer, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, reflected on her journey, from selling her music on the streets to becoming one of South Africa's most recognizable artists.

"It's a full circle moment for me," Makhadzi said, her eyes shining with emotion. "I started selling my music in these streets, and now I'm coming back as a BET Award winner, thanks to the support of my people."

Makhadzi received a warm welcome from her hometown, where she was also celebrated with a homecoming ceremony hosted by Limpopo Premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba on Thursday.

"The Limpopo provincial government wishes to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Makhadzi on this well-deserved win," said Ramathuba.

The Premier defended the province's commitment to supporting the Limpopo creative industry, despite criticism.  "We recognize the importance of the creative arts industry as a tool for job creation and economic development," she emphasized.

"As a government, we are working to create a thriving and sustainable arts sector in the province through various initiatives and support programs," Ramathuba added.

This homecoming marked a significant moment for Makhadzi, as she celebrated her success with the community that helped shape her journey. Her story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the importance of supporting local talent.
