Teacher refused day off, quits job to cheer the #Springboks. #FridayFeeling

Bok fan Cheryldene Schouw, of Bonteheuwel, was so adamant about attending the trophy tour in Cape Town on Monday that she quit her job as a creche teacher when her boss refused to give her a day off.

"I wouldn't miss such a golden opportunity to see our national team and my favourite captain‚ Siya Kolisi.

"I said, 'It's OK if I can't have the day off‚ then I'm out of here'.

"I don't mind not having a job. Today means so much.

"There will be other job opportunities‚" she said.

Her enthusiasm was shared by Capetonians singing and dancing in the streets to celebrate the Boks' World Cup win with their heroes.

Bonang Matheba gets #Mzansi feeling good again as she appears on the popular #BreakfastClub in New York

Presenter Bonang Matheba stopped by The Breakfast Club in New York City and talked about her life, the SA entertainment industry and her love life.

Following her attendance at the "E! People's Choice Awards" in Santa Monica, California, she flew to New York City where she spoke with DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God.

In the interview, Matheba talked about her start in the entertainment industry, from her beginnings on SABC1 to the businesswoman she is today.

The House of BNG owner also told of how she met Charlamagne – they bumped into each other at the Global Citizen Festival last year.

She also explained why she was moving to the US and that Africans aspired to realise their American dream even though they had made it in their home country.

When DJ Envy asked her if she was married, she said "no". He then asked her why she had a ring on her ring finger, to which Matheba replied it was to "stop nonsense", making it clear she used it as a barricade to keep away men she didn't take a liking to.

Charlemagne then asked her if she would date an American man and she said she liked "tall, dark African" men.

The interview ended with her explaining that her champagne was viewed in SA the way Jay-Z's champagne brand, Ace of Spades, was treated in the US.

#Springboks social media value is on the rise as popularity continues growing

The Springbok team will be able to charge between 20% to 30% more for sponsored posts on their social media channels after their World Cup Rugby win, brand analysts at a Cape Town advertising agency say.

Before the World Cup the national rugby team could charge advertisers between R30 000 and R35 000 for a tweet, between R25 000 and R30 000 per Instagram post, and R40 000 and R45 000 for each Facebook post, says Kirsten Dewar, managing director of advertising agency Platinum Seed.

With the surge in popularity after they won the tournament, the team can now get up to R45 500 per tweet,

R39 000 per Instagram post, and R58 500 per Facebook post.

"However, this will be short-lived as the hype wears off," Dewar told Business Insider South Africa.

The Springboks have roughly 710 000 followers on Twitter, 520 000 on Instagram, and 1,2 million on Facebook.

Advertisers track key metrics such as engagement, Dewar said — and the Springboks saw a big jump on that score during the Rugby World Cup in Japan.

The Springboks are also set to see a massive increase in merchandise-related sales, Dewar said.

Siya Kolisi, Cheslin Kolbe, and Faf de Klerk were the players who saw the biggest growth in their personal brands — and who can now charge more for endorsements via social media, Platinum Seed says.

Dewar believes the Springboks benefitted from using content generated by the team itself — with low production values — during the tournament.

"As an example, Rassie Erasmus' video message to South Africa prior to the matches made the audience and the entire nation feel as though they were alongside the players and a genuine part of the journey," she said.

#Cancer and #animal charities receive more funding than #education and disaster relief causes

People are most likely to donate money to cancer and animal charities, while education and disaster relief causes receive the least amount of support.

The elderly (13%) and the homeless (12%) are also near the bottom of the pile when it comes to donations, says research by Virgin Money Giving.

But in general the public are getting more generous, with over half (52%) now saying they would prefer a donation in their name rather than a birthday or Christmas present.

Cancer Research topped the list of good causes with 45% happy to hand over money, while education was left trailing with just 4% prepared to pay out.

The poll of 2,000 adults was conducted to mark the 10th anniversary of Virgin Money Giving, the biggest not-for-profit charity platform in the UK.

The project has helped raise more than £800million since 2009.

Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson said: "I've always believed business should be a force for good.

"Virgin Money Giving is a great example of that."

Star reveals how to naturally get the perfect butt #MotivationMonday #GirlTalkZA

Christine McGuinness reveals her perfect bum is down to squats and weights – and is urging women to give overseas butt lifts the boot.

The mum of three, wife of TV host Paddy, posted on her Instagram page a cheeky photo of her doing a workout in a tight pink leotard. The 31-year-old took a swipe at medics who say the same results can be achieved from potentially dangerous surgery.

Christine posted: "Fall in love with the process and results will come." Last month the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons said it is launching a review into safety concerns over fat-grafting buttock augmentation.

Cape of Storms Great White #Rum has the festive season X-Factor #DrinkReview

The beauty of rum is found in it's smoothness. Double distill it and you will get an even smoother experience.

That's how best I can introduce Cape of Storms Great White Rum.

Retailing at just under R300 for a 500ml bottle, this absolutely amazing white rum boasts of that X-Factor that can easily add some spring to your festive season cheer.

DISTILLING

Taste is everything and it is worth noting that this  Great White Rum is made using a unique adaptation of a centuries old Caribbean rum making technique.

The distillers use strong African blackstrap molasses to add a bit of local flair and flavour to this fruity white rum.

No sugars, chemicals or artificial flavourants are added. This rum is double distilled making it very smooth. It's easy on the palate and it is generally an easy drink to enjoy.

MIXING

For the White Rum connoisseur, it is best enjoyed on the rocks or in your favourite cocktail.

It is truly an authentic craft rum. It also plays nicely with a variety of mixers, including many tonics, lemonade and ginger beer.

TASTE NOTES

It's white, sweet aroma adds flair to the smoothness. A distinct tropical fruit taste greets the palate. The flavour is light and very enjoyable.

The rum rounds out with some citrus notes and a balancing sweetness.

The finish has some attractive oaky notes.

Why not get yourself in the festive mood? You won't regret trying the Great White Rum.

#Poet Ntsiki Mazwai refuses to 'play along' with the #Springboks #SpringboksArrival

Controversial poet Ntsiki Mazwai is at it again, spewing out vitriol in the direction of the Springboks. Not even their achievement on Saturday could save them from a fresh Mazwai attack.

She posted a video on Twitter of her reciting a poem titled "I Will Not Play Along With You" along with a caption saying "f**k the Springboks".

In the poem, the Qhawe singer lists the reasons she refuses to support the Boks, which include that "the team doesn't represent the demographics of the country".

Rugby is a stronghold for racism in South Africa, she says, black people are excluded from the sport deliberately, Afrikaans men play tricks to keep black boys out of the sport and that out of 31 players there were only seven black people representing a black country.

Mazwai finishes the poem by saying that if they wanted her to support the Springboks, they needed to give her a team that reflected her and her life. I Will Not Play Along With You F*** the Springboks kahle kahle #RugbyWorldCupfinal pic. twitter.com/HgC6yZ5wyh— #Qhawe OUT NOW (@ntsikimazwai)

But the tweeps weren't happy, especially following the Springboks winning the Rugby World Cup, with Siya Kolisi as the first black captain.

"We'll also not play along with you & your bitterness. We're busy celebrating with our very own Tendai Mtawarira pic.twitter.com/ P0jKa3Ybdl— Jack (@karidzaJack)

Ntsiki what have you actually done for the black community besides moan about white people? – kaygee (@Kaydaviper)

Mazwai first shared her thoughts last week when she tweeted that she found the rugby team to be an "apartheid trigger".
