Zimbabwean Samantha Nyikadzino starts work at Mercedes Formula 1 team

Zimbabwean Samantha Nyikadzino has started work as an Electronics Design Engineer for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team. Yep.

She made the announcement on her social media, saying, "Today was an awesome day. Started as a Design Engineer for @MercedesAMGF1 and I'm pretty geeked!"

For the uninitiated, geeked means super excited.

"Supporting a team from home and then ending up as one of their design engineers is something I haven't found the words to correctly articulate yet but I'm so excited for this new adventure," Nyikadzino added.

She becomes the second Zimbabwean to join the team, home to record Formula 1 champion Sir Lewis Hamilton, after Stephanie Travers who did three years as a trackside fluid engineer.

Nyikadzino is quite simply impressive.

Her LinkedIn profile says, "Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics and Computer Science Background with acquired technical skills through experience working on schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM creation, geber and assembly file generation. Skilled in programming with Python, C++ and and with proficiency in Octave and MATLAB and familiar with SQL ."
