Why changing jobs can boast your career

Staying in the same company and getting an award for service is no longer sort after. We look at the reasons why job-hopping can work for you.

LinkedIn found that the number of companies people worked for in the five years after they graduated has nearly doubled.

Industrial psychologist Gillian Schultz says, "I would recommend attending a career workshop or working with a career coach where you can reflect on what it is that makes you unique, what your strengths are and your goals before starting out. But with job-hopping you can find your dream job and make choices that align with who you are, and ultimately feel happier and more satisfied."

Let's look at why job-hopping isn't a bad idea:

Earn a better salary:
It means you can move to the next company and bid for money then you earned where you are.

Grow your career:
Changing jobs can be great for career growth as you get to experience more and climb the ladder in another company, whereas if you do stay at the same company for too long you risks the chance of stagnating.

New location:
It's exciting to see new cities and experience a new environment. It'll open your eyes to new things.

Find your dream job:
Switching jobs can lead to you finding the best job. You get to know your likes and dislikes. Finding the perfect fit in a job or environment can make you more satisfied.
