Beauty alternatives to try when you can't afford straining your budget

Make-up lovers know how devastating it can be to run out of your favourite beauty product in the middle of the month. Here are some DIY tips to try.

 Ice cube as a primer

Primers are one of those things you buy once in a while and forget about because you only use so little of it at a time. An ice cube is a great altenative, even though it's unpleasantly cold. Rubbing it on a clean face will tighten your pores and smoothen your skin just as a primer would. This step should follow after you've moisturised your face.

Aloe gel as setting spray

If you sweat a lot during the day then you know how setting your make-up is an important step in your routine. What you will need is aloe vera gel and two capsules of vitamin E oil. Put two tablespoons of aloe and two capsules of vitamin E oil into a 250ml jar then pour half a cup of warm filtered water into the jar. Mix well by stirring and transfer the solution into a spay bottle. It's a good idea to always have this handy.

Soap as eyebrow filler

If not all, most women are on the eyebrow-on-fleek trend. Never mind getting it right, first you need the right products for it and many of the brands are expensive. What you will need is a spoolie brush and a bar of soap. Run a clean spoolie over the soap and sweep your eyebrows using an upward motion folllowing the shape of your eyebrow. This will give you a natual looking brow, however if you want more definition add a brow line underneath and you're good to go.

Shadow as eyeliner

Mix a dark eyeshadow with water on a small container, blend well and use a liner brush to apply it on your lower eye line. If you want a bolder look dip your liner brush into your mascara, your lines will last longer.
