Thandiswa Mazwai brings her show, 'A Letter to Azania', to Cape Town for the first time next week.
The production, which sold out in Johannesburg last year, offers a multi-genre journey through the legendary South African singer's decades-long career in the form of a letter from the artist to Azania.
It explores its utopian ideal, while "expressing the melancholy that comes with a dream deferred".
Mazwai says fans can expect "a range of sounds that have influenced my recordings and performances over the years: jazz, kwaito, Afro-funk, reggae, gospel and traditional music".
