With the summer already sweltering, actress, TV producer and media personality Sonia Mbele has arrived at the right time to quench thirsts as she launches her alkaline water branding and bottling company, Alkamax.
This business venture has added to a list of others she has invested her time in, making her a veritable jack-ofall trades. The TV personality revealed how she saw a gap in the market and thought of filling it.
She said before venturing into this business, she did her research and found it as something lucrative she could invest in.
"I thought to myself, 'How can I get multiple streams of income? How can I also inspire my fellow South Africans that suffered the very same strain I suffered? How can we all make money and sustain ourselves and I thought of water?'
"So I thought, we are a consuming society. I'm a big water drinker. I even sleep with a litre of water next to my bed," the star said.
Mbele believes this will not only help those who need water but also create employment.
"Most importantly for me is that we are establishing distribution and collection centres in all nine provinces and people can contact our distribution managers and they can be distributors," she said.
Mbele is not new to the world of business. She owns the production company Sonia Mbele Films, which has worked with the local popular reality show, The Real Housewives of Joburg, for two seasons.
Most people know her by her popular appearance on local SABC 1 drama Generations, where she played Ntombi. She now features in DiepCity as Zola.
