The "Big Dawg" is returning to Afternoon Drive with a bang. DJ Fresh, real name Thato Sikwane, will spearhead a new drive-time show on regional radio station 94.7 from August 1.
Titled Fresh on 94.7, he will be joined by Mantsoe Pout on weekdays between 3pm and 7pm.
"I look forward to engaging with my loyal following at my new home," he said.
"I started my radio career as an afternoon drive presenter and look forward to joining 94.7 for my new show, in this new time slot. .
"Listeners can expect a kickass team, kick-ass show, a lot of entertainment, laughter and finally being back on radio."
Before his morning show stint on Metro FM, Fresh hosted popular afternoon drive shows on YFM and 5fm. Apart from Fresh's appointment, there are more shakeups at the station with current hosts of the drive-time show, Greg Aldridge and Lucky du Plessis, moving to a new weekend show.
"DJ Fresh has been in the game for more than 20 years, and as far as radio heavyweights go, he ranks high among the best," said station manager Thando Makhunga. "Fresh loves Joburg as much as we do and we look forward to welcoming the Big Dawg to the afternoon drive microphone.
"We thank Greg and Lucky for their humour, hard work and for driving Johannesburg home in a way that only Greg and Lucky could."
