Saluting all women at #Shell

When people feel included and engaged, Shell South Africa believes, they leverage the richness of ideas, backgrounds and perspectives to create value in business.

With this notion in mind, the company's diversity and inclusivity policy creates an enabling environment for its employees. We hear from five women who have experienced it first-hand at the company, as they share their career highlights.

Showcasing diversity

Nthato Minyuku heads up government relations. "My journey as a female executive at Shell started with leading transformation and I now head a vibrant group of people who work on government relations."

Thabile Molokomme, Head of Legal, shares what has worked for her: planning, formulating lists, concentrating on what matters and prioritising important projects.

Barbara Makhubedu, Shell Downstream CFO, has been at the company for 11 years. "My career highlight was being appointed to this role," she says.

"We believe that our strong identity is anchored by all the voices and minds of all our people across the gender spectrum," says Shell South Africa.

"We are proud to be part of a transforming society that is ready to embrace inclusion, build trust and unleash the collective intellectual capital of our diverse talents."

A relationship for 115 years

Shell has been in South Africa since 1902. Back then, it focused on selling paraffin and kerosene. Today, with a head office in Johannesburg, its business activities range from retail and commercial fuels, lubricants and oils, manufacturing and upstream exploration.
