The South African government, via its twitter feed, said President Jacob Zuma had noted the Constitutional Court judgement handed down on Thursday.
It also said that President Zuma would respect the judgement, which reaffirms the powers of the Constitutional Court, as the final arbiter on matters of the country’s constitution.
The South African government said the President would reflect on the judgement and its implications on the state of the South African government.
President Zuma was ordered to repay a reasonable amount of the money spent on the security upgrades at his Nkandla homestead, with particular mention being made of money spent on the non-security items.
The National Treasury will determine just how much the President must pay.
