Britney Spears to bare soul in #movie

Britney Spears is ready to bare her soul in a film about her life – including her public meltdowns.

The pop star is in talks with studio bosses for a Hollywood biopic.

It would coincide with next year's opening of the Broadway musical Once Upon A One More Time, featuring her biggest hits.

Mum-of-two Britney, 37, hopes her warts-and-all story can match the success of recent music movies like Bohemian Rhapsody.

Jennifer Lawrence and Kristen Stewart are among Hollywood stars said to be contenders for the lead role.

A Paramount executive said: "No deals have been signed but Britney and a creative team are pitching the idea round the studios."

Losing Lerato turns doubters into believers as it grosses over R4 mil. #WednesdayWisdom

"I remember a time when we were told we probably won't last even a week in cinemas and probably won't even make 200k because we are independent and weren't funded by anybody."

Reflecting on the success of his debut film Losing Lerato, actor and producer Kagiso Modupe said that despite initial doubts about the film, he believed it could succeed.

Losing Lerato has since grossed R4.1 million since opening on September 13.

It overtook international films such as Fast and the Furious and Hustlers in earnings in some cinemas and continued its steady rise to the top – a first for a local independent film in South Africa.

"I am so proud of what we have achieved because we didn't open in 65 cinemas like most films. We were limited to only 39 cinemas because we were independent and were not seen as credible producers. From screening in limited cinemas we were able to achieve all this. Imagine if we had opened on all 65 cinemas? We would be sitting on R8m now. I am really excited because we really fought against all the odds and obstacles and the results are showing," he said.

The film follows a father's journey to forge a relationship with his daughter after breaking up with her mother.

The story was inspired by the real-life story of Modupe's dad and his non-existent relationship with his absent father, which left him scarred.

Modupe's transition to add the producer feather in his hat comes after 16 years of acting and was necessitated by his desire to be "the change he wants to see" in the industry.

Instagram post inspires Jennifer Lopez to donate years supply of food to needy students #MotivationMonday

Jennifer Lopez and her fiancé Alex Rodriguez have donated a year's supply of food to a school.

They were left in tears after reading a teacher's Instagram post about a pupil going hungry.

Jennifer shared a video of the children opening food packages.

She added the caption: "When we heard about the students and amazing teachers at Jacksboro Elementary in Tennessee, we knew we had to help.

"We heard teachers were helping students bring home food when they didn't have enough."

Uyanda Mbuli returns to the small screen as she joins #TheQueen

After a 14-year absence from acting, Uyanda Mbuli, pictured, returns to play a social worker in Mzansi Magic's hit drama series, The Queen.

The 41-year-old said she was grateful to John Kani for encouraging her to return to her passion when they were on the same flight to Ghana from South Africa.

"I was talking to him about his career and how he is representing us internationally. He asked me why I stopped acting and said, 'You need to be consistent with acting because acting has longevity. You will take (on) different characters as you grow older.'

"And that engagement really inspired me go back to acting. I'm really excited."

Following her interaction with Kani, Mbuli approached Connie Ferguson to discuss her renewed interest in acting.

The Queen and Mbuli fitted the bill. "The opportunity of the character of Cynthia presented itself because they were looking for a social worker and Connie thought I would be appropriate for the role. And I took it," Mbuli said.

Given the recent uproar over actors being exploited, bullied and abused in the industry, with Ferguson Films production coming under attack by former iGazi actress Vatiswa Ndara, Mbuli said her role as a manager at SABC had given her a good understanding of the commission and production processes of the different genres in television.

Mbuli said she was happy with the contract from Ferguson Films.

"I can tell you as a matter of fact that when I was given the offer it was the offer I was comfortable with, which is why I signed it."

Mbuli made her debut on the small screen on Friday.

"I look forward to hearing feedback. And I hope viewers fall in love with her and welcome Cynthia into their homes."

Award winning singing sensation Zahara says SA Idols twin Viggy Qwabe made a brave move by leaving the reality show as a result of her sister Virginia's elimination.

"With Idols, unfortunately there can only be one winner," Zahara said on Monday.

"There is no dispute that these two young girls are extremely talented and both deserve to win.

"My door is open I will try by all means to help where I can. They have my number and they can contact me at any time.

"If it means mentoring or signing them under my management, it is up to them, I am here.

"I understand where Viggy is coming from as Virginia is her other half.

"It would've been difficult to continue without her other half being there.

"My hands and heart are open to them."

Viggy quit the show in a dramatic twist after Virginia was eliminated from the competition.

In a short statement released by Mzansi Magic on Monday, the channel confirmed Viggy's decision to exit the competition.

The twins, their family, the production company and channel had met after the show on Sunday to formalise Viggy's decision, the statement said.
