#Events: Siya Kolisi and the Springboks win big at the SA Sports Awards

The Springboks emerged as the shining stars of the SA Sport Awards on Sunday night, claiming an impressive six accolades following their triumphant Rugby World Cup victory last year.

Siya Kolisi, the inspirational captain of the Boks, was honored with two prestigious awards: Sport Star of the Year and People's Choice of the Year, a title bestowed upon him by the public.

Eben Etzebeth was celebrated as Sportsman of the Year, further solidifying the team's dominance in the sporting arena.

The Boks' success extended beyond individual achievements, with the team itself clinching the Team of the Year award. Their head coach, Jacques Nienaber, was recognized as Coach of the Year, while rising star Manie Libbok was named Newcomer of the Year.

Additionally, rugby as a whole received accolades for Administrator of the Year (awarded to SA Rugby Union president Mark Alexander) and National Federation of the Year.

Amongst other notable winners at the event was sailor Kirsten Neuschäfer, who was crowned Sportswoman of the soil Year for her historic victory in the Golden Globe Race.

Sprinter Mpumelelo Mhlongo and discus thrower Simone Kruger were also honored for their exceptional performances, being named Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year With a Disability, respectively.

The awards ceremony at Sun City served as a fitting tribute to the remarkable achievements of South Africa's sporting elite across various disciplines.
