Unemployed Cape Town couple have their dream wedding without paying a cent for it

Love triumphed on Saturday when a couple from Belhar, who met on Facebook in 2021, had their dream wedding without spending a cent. Samantha, 32, and Ashley Lodewyk, 29, both unemployed, decided to get married in casual clothes due to their financial constraints.

Samantha went to her friend Melissa, who works at Hair Whizz Salon in Belhar, to get her hair done on Saturday. Little did she know that she would walk out of the salon feeling like a true bride. Melissa introduced Samantha to salon manager Lizel, who was excited for her and offered to do her makeup and nails for free.

Lizel also provided Samantha and Ashley with wedding attire, including a white bridal gown, crown, earrings, high heels, suit, shirt, belt, shoes, and bowtie. Even their "wedding car," an e-hailing taxi, was sponsored.

The couple's story touched Lizel's heart. She had dresses that were sponsored to help underprivileged matriculants, and they happened to fit Samantha and Ashley perfectly. Lizel also gave Ashley her belt to complete his look.

The wedding took place on Saturday afternoon at the Protestant Pentecostal Church in Glenhaven, Bellville South. The pastor, who waived his fee, organized cake and tea for the small gathering of 10 people in attendance.

The blessings continued the next day for Samantha and Ashley. Their story of love and resilience has touched the hearts of many, and people have reached out to offer them assistance and support. The couple is grateful for the kindness and generosity they have received.

This heartwarming story reminds us that love knows no boundaries and that kindness can make a significant impact on someone's life. Despite their financial hardships, Samantha and Ashley were able to have a beautiful wedding thanks to the selflessness of others. Their story serves as a reminder that there is always hope and that love truly conquers all.
