Five essential skincare steps to take before you sleep for glowing skin the following morning - and why you need to stop using hot water immediately

A skincare expert has revealed the five things that she does everyday for glowing, wrinkle-free skin.

From not using hot water on her face, to doing her skincare routine as soon as she gets home, a brunette beauty from Base Skincare revealed the important tips and tricks you must know.


So if you want youthful-looking skin, but can't afford to splash the cash on pricey products, luckily for you, we've got just what you need.

Sharing her advice on social media, the beauty whizz said: "Five things I do before bed for glowing skin in the morning." 

1. Take your makeup off immediately "Number one – I always do my skincare routine as soon as I get home.

"This gives my products an extra three to four hours to work and allows my skin to drink up all the goodness rather than my pillow." 

2. Double cleanse 
According to Holland & Barrett, "double cleansing involves removing makeup, SPF, and sebum (skin's natural oils) first using an oil-based cleanser or serum".

It continued: "This first stage is followed with a deeper water-based cleanse to clean deeper in the pores, removing bacteria, sweat, and old skin cells."

The skincare guru then stressed the importance of cleansing with warm, not hot water, as she wrote: "Number two – I double cleanse with warm, not hot water.

"This stops my skin being stripped of natural oils and keeps it supple and hydrated through the night." 

3. Exfoliate every day 
As well as this, the skincare fan explained why exfoliating is so important.

Most dermatologists and skin experts suggest exfoliating two to three times a week – maximum.

But not this expert, because she said her third tip was: " I exfoliate every evening to remove any dead skin cells.

"This makes way for new, healthy ones and gives the most beautiful morning glow."

It is said, however, for those with skin types prone to redness and irritation, you should only exfoliate once or twice a week. 

4. Sleep with two pillows 
Not only this, but the expert shared her sleep hacks, as she penned: "Number four – I sleep with at least two pillows to keep my head elevated.

"This prevents fluid from settling in my face overnight, so I don't wake up with puffy eyes. 

5. Aim for 7-8 hours sleep 
"And number five – I always make sure I get seven to eight hours of beauty sleep, so my skin has plenty of time to repair and regenerate."

According to skin expert brand Nivea, skin rejuvenates overnight because "Our body releases more of the sleep hormone melatonin at night".

As for why melatonin is great, it explained: "Melatonin not only ensures you sleep healthily: its anti-oxidative effect irons out skin damage and has a positive influence on the cells' ageing process."

The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @baseskncare, has clearly impressed many, as it has quickly amassed 53,700 views.

Social media users were thankful for the advice and many took to the comments to compliment her flawless skin.
