Two friends have fallen out after one of them stole the others wedding dress

A woman has revealed that her friend stole her wedding dress after claiming for years that she'd lost it.

Sharing the story on Reddit, the woman triggered a debate about boundaries after she said she'd found her wedding dress in a friend's wardrobe.

The friend had originally been entrusted with the precious item whilst her house was being renovated.

She said that after asking her friend for the dress back, she kept getting excuses about why it couldn't be returned.

It was only after one innocuous event that the truth was discovered.

Explaining the situation online she said: "This was our mother's dress and we always agreed we'd each wear it. I told my friend I needed it back. She claimed she couldn't find it.

"I was perplexed because how does it just get up and walk away? She apologised and offered to pay me the cost of the dress, which I turned down because it wasn't about money. The dress was sentimental and I felt terrible my sister couldn't wear it."

The woman said that she discovered the location of the lost dress when she was asked by her friend to look after her dogs and water some plants.

With access to her friend's house, the woman used it as an opportunity to rummage through her closet. She found the dress.
