Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane to take part in Miss Supranational in Poland

Reigning Miss SA Lalela Mswane is steeling herself for another prestigious event after being announced that she will be competing for Miss Supranational title which is set to take place in Poland in July.

The Miss SA organisation announced the news with delight on their social pages were they wrote: "We are excited to announce Miss South Africa 2021, Lalela Mswane will represent Mzansi at the 13th edition of the Miss Supranational 2022 this coming July in Poland. Let's support Lalela as she gets back on the international stage."

This announcement comes as the beauty queen took part in the Miss Universe pageant in Israel last year, where she was crowned the second runner-up.

This news brought confusion to many people who did not understand how Mswane could take part in another pageant while there were other runners-up Moratwe Masima and Zimi Mabunzi.

Though this may have left many in a foggy state the Miss SA organisation clarified why Mswane was eligible to participate in the event.

"Covid has forced many events to be postponed, and this has caused confusion around the different competitions and when they are set to be held. It is also not uncommon for the same representative to attend more than one international competition during their year of reign should the international pageant's dates and timeline allow for it,"

Chief executive of Miss South Africa Stephanie Weil pointed out that Mswane is available to fulfil her duties.

"Our reigning Miss South Africa has been selected to compete at Miss Supranational 2022 as she is available to fulfil that duty. It is not uncommon for Miss South Africa to attend more than one international pageant during her reign. Runners-up are chosen to step in should Miss South Africa not be able to fulfil her duty," said Weil.
