Every year keeps getting better for the South African entertainment industry.
Stars such as Terry Pheto, Pearl Thusi, Black Coffee and Trevor Noah flew the South African flag high this year overseas with their achievements.
Recently, award-winning actress Terry Pheto scored a role in British drama A United Kingdom, which earned her a nomination for best supporting actress at the British Independent Film Awards.
In the film Pheto portrays Naledi Khama, the younger sister of Botswana's first president Seretse Khama. Also featured in the film is Vusi Kunene, who is known for his villainous character on Generations: The Legacy and Isibaya.
Among Pheto's multiple achievements, she also produced film Ayanda under her company, Leading Lady productions.
The film received accolades at film festivals around the world, along with Fulu Mugovhani, who won best actress for her role as Ayanda at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
Internationally acclaimed DJ Black Coffee was awarded Best International Act: Africa beating artists like Cassper Nyovest, Yemi Alade, AKA and Wizkid.
Black Coffee also announced his collaboration with award-winning RnB artist Alicia Keys.
TV presenter Pearl Thusi joined the international entertainment show Lip Sync Battle as a local host alongside Nigerian artist D'Banj in March.
She also landed a role on Quantico, an American TV crime series. Thusi is currently based in the United States.
Soweto-raised comedian Trevor Noah now hosts The Daily Show on Comedy Central, having replaced long-time host Jon Stewart.
