Making money through cleaning. #Entrepreneur defies the odds and now employs 42 #CleanersOnCall #GirlTalkZA

Entrepreneur Florence Mosepele is on a mission to transform the cleaning industry with exceptional added value.

Mosepele is the founder and owner of the cleaning company, Cleaners On Call. With a passion for youth development and creating a platform for opportunities, Mosepele aspires to empower young people and previously disadvantaged individuals. She gives these individuals the opportunity to acquire experience and develop their skills through her business.

"From a young age, I have been a dreamer, with a vision to excel in what I do and to also create employment for other young people. When you work hard, you distinguish yourself from your competition," she says.

Mosepele had to endure the pain of not continuing with her studies after matriculating on the West Rand, as her family couldn't afford tertiary fees.

She knew that she had to start a business in order to generate income and contribute to the country's fight against poverty and unemployment.

Today, she is the owner of two successful businesses – the other being hair and beauty salon Cutting Edge Pro.

She recalls that she couldn't allow her family's financial challenges to cloud over her dream.

At the age of 23, she realised that there was a need for her to face the world of entrepreneurship after she recognised an opportunity in the cleaning sector.

She saw a gap in the market for trained cleaners who respected their jobs and a need to reshape the status quo, with professional, accredited cleaners who are just a phone call away.

"That's when the thought of Cleaners On Call was born," she says.

Her business has empowered many young and previously disadvantaged individuals who have been given the opportunity to acquire experience and develop their skills.

While facing the challenges of securing funding and resources, she strives to render professional, well-presented and efficient services.

Mosepele says that becoming an entrepreneur has taught her about the qualities she possesses that she would have never otherwise developed.

"I have learnt that I am strong, confident, focus-driven and a risk-taker. I have learnt that I have bigger dreams than I realised."

She says she is aware that there is little support for SMEs from government. "But if you're just starting out in business, don't give up. Remember, that the beginning is always the hardest. Life rewards those who work hard at it."

Moselepe, who believes that education is key for entrepreneurs, has completed a diploma and is now studying for a BCom in Accounting Science through Unisa.

She served her accounting articles with De Wets Chartered Accountants and later joined Thebe Investment Finance Department and Raizcorp.

This experience helped her understand how the corporate world works and build networks. Both of her companies employ 42 people.

#FNB's #eWallet surge proves simplicity is unmatched

FNB's eWallet offering saw a 41 percent surge in payments totalling R21 billion in the year to June.

The lender said the sends were generated from 6.1 million active wallets of which nearly 2 million are regular users.

Pieter Woodhatch, chief executive of FNB Easy sub-segment, said while traditional bank accounts are very important for people with debit orders and a range of other complex needs, simpler solutions are vital for consumers who have minimal transactional requirements.

FNB

Our analysis of regular eWallet users has shown that there's still a gap in the market when it comes to solving the banking needs of unbanked and underbanked consumers," says Woodhacth.
The bank has also augmented its eWallet offering by creating an eWallet eXtra, a mobile bank account that provides a daily limit spend of up to R3 000 and a monthly limit of R24,000 and debit orders are not allowed on the account.

"Digital is key to solving the needs of customers who may be financially excluded due to limited infrastructure, among other reasons. We've seen this through the success of eWallet and anticipate the trend to continue with eWallet eXtra," says Woodhatch.

DJ #Euphonik finds more success in property industry and goes back to school to study Property Development and Investment

When Themba Nkosi, aka Euphonik, decided to drop out of university – where he was pursuing a BCom Accounting degree – he says he made the decision because his heart wasn't in it.

What he really wanted to study was his first passion – DJing – but at the time, there were no options available. So instead of pursuing the safe option, he opted to walk away mid-degree – a decision that led to his father kicking him out of the house.

As the story goes, Euphonik went on to make a success of his DJ career and the money from gigs began pouring in. He needed a good vehicle in which to invest his money.

He invested in his first property, a digs in Westdene, and he hasn't looked back since. Today, he owns 14 properties in Joburg, the majority of which are student accommodation properties.

"I buy houses that are close to varsities and I rent them out to students. I've aligned myself with a lot of big property developers and I'm learning," he told 702'sThe Money Show.

A tip that he's picked up about property investment over the years and a philosophy he swears by is being "area-focused" when it comes to buying property as an investment.

"So, with the type of properties that I look at, I'm actually very area-specific and area-focused. So, I won't buy an apartment in Port Elizabeth or a vacant stand in Durban," he said in an interview with Private Property.

"I focus on the area and if there's a deal on a vacant stand in the area that I like or an apartment or a house, then I'll invest, but I'm very, very area-specific with the investments."

Euphonik recently went back to school to complete an online course in Property Development and Investment through the University of Cape Town.

Fancy a #career in #music? Here are creative ways to survive in this tough industry

It was his passion for music and youth development that led music mentor and record producer DJ Monotone, real name Pontsho Moono back to home town of Lehurutshe, a village outside of Zeerust, Bokone Bophirima to share his musical knowledge with aspiring musicians.

This journey that started in 2017 saw DJ Monotone conducting music development workshops in Lehurutshe civic centre, on Saturday, September 1.

His initiative Areyeng Gae, which loosely translate to "let's go home" Arts and Music workshops focus on educating young people on the business side of music. Some of the key issues that were addressed at the weekend included music publishing, royalties, distribution, copyright, sampling and production.
"The aim of the project is to challenge the youth by going back to the townships and villages, and inspire the young talent through mentorship and community projects," said DJ Monotone.

The music mentor said his plan is to take these workshops nationally.

DJ Monotone has recently joined The Remix SA on SABC 1. The reality TV show is based on the global hit sensation, THE REMIX, which is the world's biggest reality competition. Following the same format, ten groups, each made up of a trio of a strong vocalist, DJ/Producer and musical performer, compete head to head every week until only one group is left standing.

Groups are tasked with creating a "remix" within a given theme or musical genre and DJ Monotone's task is to mentor the upcoming producers on the show.
"So we give them a challenge every week, I'm there to guide them to see if they are using the proper sounds, proper progressions, proper arrangements and they compete on stage. Being part of that journey has been an awesome experience so far," says DJ Monotone

DJ has shared 7 nuggets to help you kickstart and sustain a music career:

1. Networking: Remember networking is not only about advancing your career but about building and maintaining meaningful relationships. This will in a long term assist you in attaining your career goals. For instance, it's important to knowing who to call if you need an advice or which radio station to contact when you're about to drop a single.

2. Passion and Determination: Without passion for your craft it's easy give up when the going gets tough. The road is not easy as it looks...no matter how often radio rejects your music, you keep pushing...Persistence always conquers!

3. Understanding the basic layout of a contract: We (are) usually desperate for our careers to advance so we end up binding ourselves sometimes for life...it's important to understand basic things such as terms and duration of contract, music copyrights, music royalties and publishing and distribution of music.

4. Knowledge: Not everyone went to music school and besides there's always something new to learn especially in the digital space, so equip yourself with knowledge. You owe it to yourself...Do your own research, follow musicians that inspires you or that are successful. Find out how to elevate your craft to the next level.

5. Talent: Find your talent in production. Not everyone is a mixer or engineer or instrumentalist or even a singer, so it's important to know where your talent lies in the musical sphere ..and work on developing that talent.

6. Development: It's important to consistently cultivate your craft, it brings versatility. Always try new ways of of doing things, for example find the latest softwares that will help you improve your sound.

7. Discipline: A lot of talented artists went down under due of lack of discipline. It doesn't matter how good you are, if you can't behave properly and don't respect your craft and opportunities presented to you ,your career will be short lived.

The Remix SA airs on SABC 1, Sunday at 6pm.

Nike faced a lot of criticism from people all over the world for their decision to take on the controversial Kaepernick as an ambassador of the brand.

ny patriots of the US felt that Kaepernick had disrespected everything the American flag stood for when he kneeled to the national anthem before NFL games.

However, the brand stood by its decision and for the most part of the liberal society, it was a bold and beautiful move by a cheeky, formidable brand.

Want to be an #entrepreneur? Here are the qualities of a successful entrepreneur

Persistence, curiosity, self-motivation and a growth mindset are some of the qualities that most successful entrepreneurs have in common.

This is according to a study by Gallup Research, which has found that entrepreneurs who are better at noticing business opportunities are natural salespeople and networkers.

According to the research, published byInc.com, successful entrepreneurs identify their strongest assets and continuously nurture their native abilities, while managing areas of weakness, and study what other successful business leaders and innovators have done.

Most successful entrepreneurs understand their area of business, despite having different career paths. Leading entrepreneurs and innovators were at some stage domain experts before they ventured into their own businesses.

Building a business, securing funding and going through years of struggle and near-failure all require intense discipline to achieve success. Inc.com reports that successful entrepreneurship takes intense discipline to keep working through obstacles and moving forward.

Entrepreneurs who intend to achieve a high level of success rapidly require a growth mindset, as skills can be developed through solid and continuous effort.

Most entrepreneurs are passionate about their business and willing to strive against all odds. Some of the common characteristics of successful entrepreneurs are self-motivation, adaptability and the willingness to fail.

Most importantly, entrepreneurs are curious and have characteristics that drive them to keep trying new things, discovering how things work, learning what motivates people to buy and studying the future of their industry.

Successful entrepreneurs don't wait around for opportunities to be handed to them – they go after them and make their good fortune happen and this mostly requires self-motivation.

Willingness to fail is part of the entrepreneurial journey and successful entrepreneurs embrace this aspect.
